Wow. This was a walk down memory lane. My first rock climb (age 12) was on Birchens Edge. A year later I came again and joined a group of climbers. Every week thereafter we were out on the edges, or further afield. Staying Saturday nights in barns at "Sonnys" farm between the Chesterfield and Sheffield road junction before the roundabout was built. Birchens, Gardoms, Curbar and Frogatt were our go to climbing areas within walking distance. I have returned many times but the growth of the trees around the cliffs at Gardoms were a disappointment to me as we used to be able to climb with great views which are now largely obscured. Thanks for the excellent film of these areas. Did you notice that looking across from the edge of the plateau area behind Baslow Edge is a monument to Wellington? The two monuments for the two great heroes of the Napoleonic Wars, Wellington, victor at Waterloo and Nelson, triumphant at Trafalgar face each other across the landscape.

That’s a great walk Alex and it’s fantastic to have you back posting on your channel. I absolutely love this area, we have combined Baslow, Curbar and Froggatt Edges as part of a circular walk but have still got Birchen and White Edges to do. I know I’ve said it many a time before but the view from Curbar…. Is Stunning and indeed was an amazing place to have lunch 👍. The rain just adds to the walking challenge 🤣 and the clouds certainly looked pretty impressive rolling in. So pleased that the trig count is rising, it’s no small task that, so well done. Awesome video, I feel inspired to give the 9 edges challenge a go now 👍. Can’t wait to see the other videos when you post them.

Thank you very much Greg!! Yes the view from Curbar is definitely up there with one of the best in the Peak District! The 9 Edges challenge is on my list of walks to do once I can have a couple of days off work when summer comes to an end, that and the Edale Skyline challenge, almost tempted to do the 9 edges as my Macmillan walk 😁 Thank you for the great comment as always, really appreciate it! Hope you have a great weekend 👍😁😂

You’re welcome! Yes the 9 Edges would make a good substitute route 👍 Save a couple of epic walks for October, I shall be starting training in August!

Great video again Alex. I've walked Baslow and Curbar many times (usually looking for those bloody cows) and I'm enthused to try out that whole walk. Despite the fact that I hate walking...
