Peak District Walks: 20 Miles along the Edale Skyline

The Edale Skyline is a well known epic walk around the entire valley of Edale in the Peak District National Park. Our route began at the train station in Hope and headed up Win Hill before joining the edge of the Kinder Plateau. This was followed along its southern edge to Brown Knoll and then up onto Lords Seat. From here the route joins the Great Ridge over Mam Tor to Lose Hill and then descends back to Hope. Come and join me on my adventure where it didn't stop raining for 5 solid hours!! Never have I been this wet on the hills before!

Joe, I tip my hat to you. This is an epic hike. I did it in August and started on the road below Mam Tor and went anticlockwise. I'm 61. It took me 14hrs 49hrs and 21.69 miles. My old hiking shoes/trail runners had split, so I was in new hiking shoes. I lost the big toenail left foot and still have black toenails on my big toe and the next one on my right foot. Luckily, I had epic views all the way around. I know you did this significantly faster, but when it came up on the screen, what you were hiking I was like, 'Oh no!' I'm not sure if it is better to have my hike with epic views and hot weather or your hike with rain. I do feel for you, though, travelling all that way for nearly zero views. Epic hike Joe, very well done. I felt it. This hike did me in. Thanks for sharing and bringing back the memories. Btw, my toenail still hasn't grown back all the way yet. Thanks for sharing, and very well done.

Ouch! Your poor toes!! Thank you for the lovely feedback. It wad a shame to have little to no views for around 5 hours, thankfully I had seen them before many times and still enjoyed the hike - although next time I do it, it will be dry for sure! August heat would make me end up in hospital! 😂

It's a great walk, I do it once or twice a month starting at Hope, leaving mam tor and lose hill to the end. I take in 4 trigs and usually do it in 9hrs. It's a great walk that offers everything, hills, great views and a chance to stretch your legs.

I agree, I really enjoy walking in the clouds, just the driving wind and rain can dampen the spirits a bit. I was soaked to the skin even in head to toe GoreTex so nothing was going to stop it but still enjoyable and an experience!
