Hi there.....I enjoy your wee videos and glimpses of the lovely English countryside... I am from Stockton on Tees in County Durham, but have lived in the USA for many years.. Presently based in Southern California where it’s a desert...so it’s grand to see all the nice greenery......reminds me of my days as a young lad, going rambling through the woods and in the summer meadows with my wee dog... Really enjoyed the pub crawl vid as well.. (might try making one myself)... Thanks a lot sir.. Cheers Stuart....

Hi again Phyliss yes Kinder Scout is one of our high places in the Peak District, but very small compared to the Scotish mountains. Its a place you can walk and hopefully not see anybody for a few hours. looked at a couple of your video, I worked in Rotherham as a Electrical Engineer in the 1990,s replaced many substations including Oakwood Secondary School as it was called, and Thomas Rotherham College next door, only seems like yesterday but that how time fly's. Hi Terry, just had a quick look back at that point I was using my Sony mobile phone on a selfie stick,the phone takes good video and photos and being light easy to hold at arms length on selfie stick, the problem with the mobile is that if its windy its not worth using for video because on wind noise and after a meter the audio drops off. Most of the time it is windy so I use my Sony DSLR with microphone and sock which gives great video and audio but is so heavy especially on selfie stick. I,am still working on different methods, good video and sound means carrying such a lot of heavy gear and I,am supposed to be lightweight camping, hope useful all the best Pat

The man made bowls cut in the gritstone are only found on stanedge. They were cut by mason called broomhead in 1907. All the other bowls on other moors formed naturally by wind/water erosion.

@patrickdickinson64928 жыл бұрын
Hi there,midges are bad enough but when there crowds of people time to get off somewhere on my own. luckily most of the time you can walk for miles on Kinder without seeing a soul especially in Winter, Thanks for watching Pat
@crzy1gs8 жыл бұрын
Oh I agree 100%! Was more a laughing with you in agreement :D The walk around Kinder plateau looked amazing. I really like the distances involved. Makes it a very appealing over nighter, not having to power hike. Added to my list :)

hi patrick great vid and as usual and one i can account with as i did myself many years ago . I did it in the opposite direction and went up crowden brook and overnighted at seal stones were i was awoken in the night by a sheep sheltering behind my tent . I Agree with a above comment about the photos none should have been rejected and ill admit youve done them all a credit by naming them and for once you can actually see were from there name comes from . keep up the good work andy
@patrickdickinson64928 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew yes very similar walk, Crowden Brook is a great walk up similar to all ways up Kinder very steep at the top but once your up the rest of the walking is easy. Interesting learning the names of the rocks and the history behind them, a great area to walk and camp, thanks again Pat

Great Video Patrick, and some good photography. I know what you mean about other people, I am fortunate to get out mid week...so always quieter. sometimes you just want these places all to yourself.
@patrickdickinson64928 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve its great if you can get out midweek sometimes you can walk for several hours until you meet another walker. The northern edge of kinder scout is like that as its a bit more remote and awkward to get to, a great place. thanks for watching all the best Pat

Hi Pat. Love your videos. They are inspiring me for the upcoming season. What type of water filter are you using. I couldn't quite make out the make from the video. Thanks.
@patrickdickinson64926 жыл бұрын
Hi Tom, I would say get out no matter what, it's all waiting for you. The water filter I used was a Sawyer Mini Filters, very lightweight and small and easy to use. All the best Pat

Hi there yep very lucky with the weather, although any time up on kinder scout is a great time. This is our highest area in the Peak district, jealous of all the great mountains and choice of areas you have in Scotland. all the best Pat

Hi Patrick. Loved the video. I know it’s a few years old now but I watched for inspiration for good camping spots on the edge. In the video you said you had read up on the names of the rock formations. Where did you do your research? The OS map only names a few and I can’t find any books on kinder scout. Can you point me in the right direction? I’d love to learn more about the amazing place
@patrickdickinson64923 жыл бұрын
Hi Kevin, a lot of info came from OS maps, but look up a walking guide called Dark Peak Stones by Ken Jones, if he is still selling the guide, all your information is there.......Pat

This is probably my favourite You Tube vid!! Looking to do this exact trip in a couple of weeks. Any idea if there's a mobile signal up there Pat? Thinking for emergency. Also do you reckon it will be dry enough up top to camp at the moment?
@patrickdickinson64926 жыл бұрын
lincolnshire hiker Hi it's amazing up there, probably a bit wet at moment especially if you leave the outer perimeter path that I walked a long. But it is Ok to camp all year round, winter bring solitude, a bit more of a challenge but worth it for the feeling of adventure. I have camped at Fairbrook Naze, got a perfect 4g signal, a lot of the area up there has a mobile signal and bits don,t. You will have a amazing camp, all the best Pat

Hi Patrick, I'm glad Ive found your channel, although theres only about a handful of walks I have watched them several times over and keep enjoying them. Could you tell me the model of trousers you were wearing? I can see they are Craghoppers but not sure which ones they are. A friend and i got lost on Kinder scout and were circling round for hours the evening before starting the Pennine Way about twenty years ago. We only went up for a quick look.... I do landscape photography and if possible I would love to see more sunshine in your videos. Best Wishes, you and your videos are very relaxing to watch. David
@patrickdickinson64927 жыл бұрын
Hi David, just been to look at my trousers, washed so many times the lable has faded, as you say they are Craghoppers , just found them on web they era Kiwi Pro stretch,just have a bit of stretch to them and closer fitting. I will try and get more sunshine but up on Kinder well your lucky to get a sunny day. Sometimes I find it difficult to get good video in bright sunlight, would much rather film in light cloud. Thanks for comments Pat
@davidkeel7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Patrick, thats very kind of you. I will check out the Kiwi Pro stretch. mant thanks, David.

Love this video, maybe it’s because this walk is one I’m desperate to complete. I’m hoping to complete it in a day, do you think this is realistic? I’ve done 12 miles in a day, no problem. I live south east Sheffield so I’m not far from you. Hope you’re well, cheers, Ken
@patrickdickinson64924 жыл бұрын
Hi Ken, yes if you can do 20 plus miles in one go you will be ok, once the initial climb out the way then pretty level, and just follow the edge path, best if you have good weather, all the best Pat

Hi Pat. Really enjoying the scenery around Kinder. However an error notice keeps on appearing at random and we have to restart and fast forward to where we left it. And then the error notice appears again. Anyone else reported this problem? Thanks
@patrickdickinson64928 жыл бұрын
Hi Pinky and Perky, the scenery round Kinder is fantastic a different view every minute, not heard of any errors but who knows with these computer things, thanks for watching hope it corrects itself Pat
