I just got the carbon fiber version, which is amazing.... But I just have to take a moment and say that this is one of the best "corporate" product videos ever. So clear, so concise, no cheesy music.... THANK YOU! Your design philosophy and company ethos are first rate. I will continue to purchase your products, and can't wait to see what you come up with next!

Got my Aluminum Travel Tripod yesterday. As a mechanical engineer, I have to say, it's the snazziest (yes, that's a technical term) design I've ever seen or used. I wanted to reiterate that it is ARCA-Swiss compliant, so many of my cages and plates are compatible with it. Cudos.

You guys are freaking unbelievable. The amount of attention to detail is pretty mind-blowing. As a result i started sort of collecting your gear. Very versatile, reliable and easy to use. Kudos to you!

I bought this model at best buy yesterday. What surprised me the most is how light the tripod feels when it is fully extended. I leave a tripod in my car and often vacation with a tabletop tripod. With the option to reduce the weight with this kit, I can now vacation with the peak design with 40% less weight. Thank you for taking the time to build such a wonderful, well thought out tripod. Also, I was not looking forward to using the clip to hold my camera in place. I didn’t realize that with the camera clipped in , I could safely walk long distances with the camera secured to the tripod. I would never do this when my camera was screwed on to a traditional tripod head. People complain about the price but they should really think about how inexpensive this will be after a decade of heavy use and thousands of amazing photographs. If you buy an affordable tripod, and travel or hike with it often, you have to replace them every two to three years anyway.

Now, make a travel fluid head that swaps in/out easily with that ball head and you've got a winner!
@scorpaznatica4314 жыл бұрын
You can do that with the Universal Head Adaptor shown in this video. Just put the adaptor on the bottom of your fluid head and swamp it in and out in seconds.

I have owned the aluminum tripod for 5 months and overall it has met my expectations. It is real sturdy in high winds, very easy to set up, carry with my camera in place, and to collapse the legs. If there are a few suggestions I would like to see taken to heart is the locking key for the plate kept falling out. I would like to see it have a Velcro cover so you simply lift the Velcro, grab the key, and then use it. This way when you either carry or turn the tripod upside down to collapse the legs the key doesn’t fall out. Right now, I keep the key in my camera bag so I don’t lose it. One of the lower legs has started slowly collapsing on its own, and so I am interested to see how Peak Design handles my warranty claim. As a workaround, I don’t extend the legs all the way out - just to the third level - and then raise the center stalk. Not ideal because I have to bend down but workable. Finally, buy a 2nd plate especially if you have a large 500 mm lens. I did this because I don’t want to be switching plates in the field, and if you lose that key you are done for the day.

17:48 I finally went to use the phone mount on this Peak Design Tripod I have had for years now, and I am shocked at how the phone mount doesn't even clip the phone in level. You'd think for this nice of a tripod, that the phone mount would square up your phone perfectly, but it slides back. You can adjust the head to make it work, but you'd think there would be a fix for this. Just my 2 cents. Love the tripod otherwise.

I just ordered two Peak Design Universal Mounts for my two Peak Design Tripods; one in aluminum, the other in titanium. I am going to use the universal mounts to mount a Star Watcher Pro star tracker on each tripod. One will contain a Canon R5 MK II with the Canon's 100-500 mm RF lens. The other will have Canon's 5D MK IV with 100 to 400 mm EF lens. In each case I will be using the tracker with its equatorial wedge, declination bracket and counterweight kit. This looks like as sturdy a travel tripod as I can find. I will be carying this equipment onto an airplane to get to my destination.

Outstanding instructional video & tripod. My only gripe about PD is the product registration. Why is the serial number on your products placed in an obscure difficult to see location on the product? When I finally spotted it, my 50+ year old eyes can’t read that tiny writing. Worse, the number is at an angle that even made it difficult to photograph with my phone (necessary to blow up the hard to read serial number). I had similar challenges registering my PD backpack. Please improve registration. Everything else is an A+

Thanks for detailed, clear walk-through/instructions. On a months-long travel (pre-pandemic), I made the mistake of packing a lightweight 'travel tripod' ... way too flimsy. I mean, I understand that a certain amount of engineering went into making this plus they had to use the most expensive material to make it light weight but the price for a freaking tri pod.... Fun discovery : the two smaller gaps on the handle of the soft case are large enough to pass most belts through, so it becomes a perfectly functional belt holster (maybe scabbard is the right term?) for the tripod if you don't want to carry more weight on your shoulder. Or you could use it to keep several cans/bottles of your choice of liquid refreshment handy while you wait for the perfect shot with your travel tripod.

🚨 I was skeptical for a while about buying this tripod thinking that it was an overpriced gimmick. Only for a while and I’ve owned it for well over a year know along with 2 other travel tripods that I already owned. “Why do I need another one”.?? This one has a place that the others don’t and I grab it when “size matters” and in this case being so streamlined and compact. It really does set up in seconds with its level locking system and I thought I was a diehard fan for twist locks. The quality of this tripod can be felt in your hands and I learned something from this video, thank you. Low mode… I’m sitting here right now typing with the removable center column section and the wrench in my hand. I didn’t even know that the legs spread out wide. And moving the camera to a different position on the head in portrait mode if it’s restricted from aiming how you like is a great tip too. This is worth every penny with its excellent build and machine work. It just feels nice and I also learned that the tool holder can move up and down on the leg and I used to have it really high up which was not so convenient to get the wrench out. Oh yeah, you can’t forget about the cell phone holder inside the center column, which I always knew about. I love this thing 👊🏼💝

Just got the tripod. It's a great piece. However, the bushings are a HUGE problem. I took my legs off to test the ultralight kit. I placed the legs into the tripod bag. I did not intentionally remove the bushings. When I put the legs back on, one of the bushings was missing. I was able to find it in the tripod bag, but if they come off that easy, then PD should include a 3-pack of these in the kit.
