As a suggestion I keep my cookie sheets in a 200° oven until ready to pour the brittle. The hot cookie sheet allows the brittle to spread easily keeping it thin. I got that from my Betty Crocker cookbook, the orange cover. I learned to cook using that cookbook. Thank you for sharing your faith.

I've been making peanut brittle at Christmas since 1968 & people love it! I learned about heating the pans from my cashew brittle recipe, but I go to 300° & it's great! I also lay a double thickness of a bath towel on the counter & place the hot cookie sheets on it. That gives the brittle a bit longer to spread thinner before it gets hard. I really want to try my hand at caramels!

@@rosemarycreollo4326 I hadn’t made Carmel’s in many years so the other day I was at my daughters and we were baking for Christmas, I thought I would make some……. Well my daughter is impressed telling me I made a pretty candy “tray” 😏 That pan of Carmel is harder than steel 😞 I ruined two batches of fudge too 😡 I should know better than have 3 things boiling on the stove at one time, I didn’t save any time by trying to be efficient 🙄🙄 Good luck with your Carmel’s, I might try again today 🤷🏼‍♀️ Merry Christmas

@@rnupnorthbrrrsm6123 If we're going to tell on ourselves, I have to admit that my 1st batch of peanut brittle came our hard as STEEL! Made it for my Dad (was his favorite candy) without a candy thermometer. I was too slow using the "drop in cold water" method that it cooked way too long! As far as I knew, he ate every bite of it - but you know how Dad's are! He said it was the best he'd ever tasted! One of my more precious memories. Wish I could make a batch for him today! 💕

I have tried several different recipes for cashew brittle and failed at every single one of them. I finally came across your video, and it was such a blessing! You taught me how to make my first successful batch of brittle, which my whole family loved! You teach with such Grace, explain everything in detail, and made me understand how and why certain ingredients are so important, (such as the baking soda, and raw peanuts) and didn’t make me feel stupid for not knowing! I loved how you talked about God! Everyone nowadays are scared to do so, so I love it when I find someone who actually does! Thank you so much for making this video! It was extremely helpful, and it came out absolutely delicious! God Bless you in the highest!!

fallenangelwi25 So true. He’s good especially in the dark times. But sometimes we can’t see just how good until we’ve passed through it and look back to see how He brought us through. Something I’ve learned over the years is that sometimes the Lord delivers us FROM the bad times and sometimes He goes with us THROUGH them-like the 3 Hebrew children through the fiery furnace-they didn’t even smell like smoke.

At 2:10 you said a teaspoon of baking powder. You better add BAKING SODA! I have made peanut brittle many times and I have found that 300 degrees is not necessary. 290 will work just as well. If you put your cookie sheet into the over set at 200 degrees it will warm the pan so that the peanut brittle will spread much easier.

When we use to make Peanut Brittle years ago, we would put either Hershey bars on top of it while it is still hot, and it would melt all over the top. Plus if did not want to use Hershey Chocolate bars, you could use Chocolate chips. And the type of Chocolate you use is up to you, you can use either milk or dark chocolate, we always used milk chocolate.

I love your videos Becky, I'm 51 now but started making Peanut Brittle a few times a year since I was 10-12 yrs old pretty much just like you did until a lady in our church (in our church cookbook) shared a microwave recipe. I was skeptical but tried it...LOL, it works so much easier and the results are the same so for the last 15 yrs or so that's how I do it. You just cook it about 4 minutes and stir, then 4 more minutes and stir. When it's close to done add the butter & vanilla, cook one more minute ish, then add the baking soda and pour it out. Love your Bible lessons as Well, praying for you alot, so sorry about you losing your husband. God Bless you all. Larry Robinson (Graham Tx.)

It was really good seeing how you make Peanut Brittle. I haven't had it in years and like it. And I enjoyed your explanation of putting God first, is so true. As a Christian, I am blessed by the Lord using you, scriptures of encouragement. Also I am new to cooking with Cast Iron. Reminds me of my childhood in the south, now as a senior here in NYC, I enjoy cooking with my Cast Iron pans. May the Lord, Jesus Christ continue to bless you and your family.

I gotta start with prayers first to start my day while waiting on my pain medicine to take affect . Usually I just pray for help when something goes wrong or I need help with something, and of course I was raised to say prayers at bedtime and ask god to help others. Love your channel , Thank You Becky.

So thankful for this video. Before this video, I attempted to make peanut brittle. I did not put baking soda or corn syrup, so of course it didn't turn out right. UPDATE: My batch turned out GREAT. I'll be making these as Christmas gifts this year. Thanks again.

I was looking for a good peanut brittle candy recipe and I got that from you but most of all what I appreciate more than anything else is when you talked about how putting God first in our lives and it appears that when we get older we have figured things out that is a true statement but I was raised up as a child in a religious family so I have known about the goodness of the Lord from a child and now that I am a senior it just even greater getting to know the Lord so I appreciate you adding that in with your recipe your discussion of what God wants and requires of us thank you so much for that

In the early 60s, visiting friends in Tennessee, we made peanut brittle, so yummy. Thanks for bringing back fond memories. Our trip to the Smoky Mountains was fantastic, driving up through the clouds, watching the wildlife.

I had decided grocery store brittle was too expensive and I could do it myself. Found your recipe and made a batch and it was as good or better than any I've ever had. Your tips made it so easy that I'll be making this anytime I want peanut brittle. Never again will I buy store bought!

The stirring is the key. I learned that anytime I make candy, stir until it's done. Thanks for the tip on raw peanuts. I had been using roasted peanuts. I'll give it a try on my next batch.

Also thanks for putting a skip timestamp. You are a very understanding woman. Bless you, however you wish to be blessed. :)

I made this for Christmas. I fallowed the recipe exactly, but had to use dry roasted peanuts and Spanish peanuts combined. It turned out FANTASTIC! My husband really loves it. He wants me to make more. I just finished the last 4 pieces. The snap and light crisp is great. My daughter says it's way better than store bought which is hard to bite into. This is a real hit and a keeper. I'll be making this many times more. Thank you and Merry Christmas! May you and yours be blessed abundantly. J.M.J.
