Maybe Peanut Dread's father suffered what they called "bends",' look it up, it happens a lot to fishermen or deep sea divers, and that is why divers these days wears oxygen tank.I doubt if peanut dread's father had oxygen tanks back in those days.They say this can happen to you if you surface from the deep too quickly, and you could suffer temporally or permanent paralysis. And based on what Peanut dread said, it seems as if his father surfaced too quickly the 2nd or 3 rd time, because he spent too much time down there trying to gill that big fish, and when he started running out of oxygen, he had to surface quickly and that was what mashed him up.Peanut Dread said that after the first dive, he told the other one that he didn't hit the bottom, because it was too deep, but if he went down with a faster speed he could bottom it, so it was the speed that he ascended with that caused the stroke or bends like they call it.

A friend of mine went fishing at the river years ago in Jamaica he saw a fish in a shallow rocky water he pushed his hand under the rock to pull the fish out, he said he felt a shock or a sting on his hand he ended up in the hospital for 3 months very ill, since then his left hand has lost all nerve feeling, you hold his hand with a pliers or vice grip and he would just laugh.

Anyone with proper knowledge of diving and/or experience will quickly surmise that the man suffered from what is referred to as “the bends.” The medical name is decompression sickness (DCS) or Caisson disease. This happens in scuba divers who return to the surface too quickly. The rapid return causes dissolved gases (mainly nitrogen) to come out in bubbles. The excess nitrogen can affect the joints, lung, heart, skin and brain. It frequently causes dizziness, vomiting, joint pain and in extreme cases strokes. Man fi know weh dem a do before them tek up somethings pon themselves. Ignorance is not bliss and can cause death!
