Enjoyed your video and was sorry about the loss of almost a bottle of mead. I screwed a pipe fitting onto a short plank and place my bottles in the fitting so that the siphon tube cannot topple them. But that aside, you say that peanuts are full of bacteria, so simply soaking them in K-meta for 24 hours should kill all the bacteria. Me? I would roast the nuts to extract more flavor and if the alcohol extracted oils and fats, simply cold crashing will force the oils to solidify and float to the top where you can remove them before racking.

So is it 3 pounds of peanuts that you boil or do you boil peanuts and use 3 pounds of what you boiled ? I ask since I am assuming the peanuts take on water from being boiled adding weight. It looks really good by the way.

Thanks so much for the info. I've also got a Vikings Blod mead I'm going to try . Recipe from the 1600s. Lots of honey for that recipe. 25 lbs for 6 gallons! But I plan on breaking that one down to 3 gal so I don't break the bank with honey!

What kind of peanuts did you use? Were they already shelled canned salted peanuts or did you shell them yourself.
