Saw her in Hello Dolly on Broadway. She came out after the show and chatted with the audience. A great lady and performer.

This was Grand Prize. A TRUE entertainer, in that five minute span, she sings, she dances, she wins over the audience (and us too!), she displays comedic skills and perfect timing, and does all this OOZING class and showmanship. Nothing vulgar about this lady. I don’t know if it’s all her or partly due to the era, but I rue the day we lost this type of entertainment. I always wanted to see Latifah play Pearl in a biopic but it has never happened. Anyway, thank you for posting.

If they should ever make a movie biography, Queen Latifa would be the part for her to play Pearl Bailey, it’s so eerie to see her n the likeness n look alike and Queen Latifa can sing, imo❤️

Tap dancing is hard... But in stiletto heels.. I've never seen that. I can't even see ankle straps across the shoes. Pearl Bailey was a force of nature that many performers could do well to emulate. XoXo 😘❤

Pearl was so original. That’s her husband, Louis Bellson on drums. Pearl would eventually take over the lead, Dolly Levi in the original long-running Broadway production of Hello Dolly in November 1967 until December 1969.
