Thank you for highlighting the life of Mrs. Pearl Bailey. I really enjoyed all of the old unseen pictures of captions of her in her art form. Beautifully done. I was blessed to see her in 1971, in "Hello Dolly," When my mother took me to see her. They both shared the same birthday, so of course, she was in love with Mrs. Bailey. My mother was so much like Mrs. Bailey.. The same characteristic of a hard working, determined lady that took NO MESS from anyone. But, Always a lady. I still remember that great performance as if it were yesterday. Again, Thank You for those great memories of Mrs. Pearl Bailey, Mr. Nat King Cole, Count Bassie, and Diana Shore, whom really was black. It was discussed in articles that her father was probably White, just as Carol Channie? All were great actors, singers and actresses. I miss all of their talents.

I was thinking Taraji P. Henson at first, but yes now I see a closer resemblance to Queen Latifah.

Ms. Bailey, I say respectfully, having been a peer of my parents, was an underrated, GOD giffted, talented, gorgeous, earthy actress!!!!!! Ms. Pearl was a witty, well balanced, spirited, jovial, sassy soul!!!! Ms. Bailey was everyone's favorite entertainer, my parents, their friends, everyone during that era, truly adored Ms. Baily, she was in a class of her own!!!!

I swear whenever I see Pearl Bailey, it makes me think of Queen Latifa, and that is a compliment 💯. The self confidence, mannerisms, voice, it's awesome to me!! The looks are there too!!

Yessss, Ms.Bailey!! I've been wanting to request her for months now but I don't comment much and after researching her myself didn't think enough information was available.

Yes there wasn’t much on her but her books were great sources. So much personality and character.

I'm so glad you did this video because I was about to look up who she is because I love American Dad (the cartoon) and Steve goes to Pearl Bailey High. Also, there are lots if different references to her throughout the shows history. Now with this context, it makes a lot of sense. Thanks for always coming through with the amazing videos and back stories. ❤️

Love Pearl Bailey, My grand mother introduced me to her artistry, so brilliant. I love your breakdowns. Have you heard of Chelo Alonso? I think she would be a great addition. Just a suggestion. Thank you for this channel, I have learned so much.

Pearl was really beautiful, but even more than that, she was incredibly intelligent, articulate & accomplished. What a wonderful example‼️

I'm definitely not surprised by her marrying 4 days after meeting him, as a fellow Aries woman, I also never understood why you have to pretend. If my ❤ is moved, I let you know right away. Not surprised about her bad relationships before marrying. Aries are known for impatience , making rush decisions and being brutally honest

I remember her variety show. There were many in the early 70’s. I’m glad you showed this wonderful video- it made me realize how striking and beautiful she was. Thank goodness humanity advanced and all people can use the same motels, restaurant’s, etc.

I remember Pearl Bailey well! I saw the tv episode when she sang “Winchester Cathedral” back in 1967! She was so pretty with her deep soulful alto voice as her trademark! Great presentation; my West Indian sister from a neighboring Caribbean island! Thank you much!❤
