“All men are brothers, like the seas throughout the world; So why do winds and waves clash so fiercely everywhere?” - Emperor Hirohito, pacific campaign.
@rocistone65705 ай бұрын
If only the Militarists around His Imperial Majesty had the wisdom to understand the true meaning of the poem. Japan and the world might have been spared. The poem was in this fashion: Across the four seas, all men are brothers. In such a world, why do the waves rage, the winds roar? 5/7/5

Honestly if they didn’t strain their men so far and in between (Island Hopping) they would have had a better chance. It was hard to send fresh men to send so many islands that were so far from one another and the US was ripping through them left and right. Their best chances were at Midway and Pelilu, and maybe Okinawa, but they had some very egotistical and prideful generals that were their downfall. You could also phrase that as, america oppressed a country for hundreds of years and then forced it to be their ally after committing mass murder. America attacks the most peaceful country on earth, turns it into a war machine by starting a civil war, discriminates it for decades, gets "suprisingly" attacked, goes at war against it committing countless war crimes but only blaming the other side and wins the war by committing one of the worst war crimes in human history (hiroshima and nagasaki) without even paying for it or fomally apoligizing (and don't reply with the "it saved japanese and allies lives and ended the war" bullshit when the very reason japan was at war against the USA is the behavior of the USA). But keep calling a bunch of criminals "heroes" if you want.

@0verd0g Well no, they couldn't even if they wanted to cause more than likely the US would of pushed for some pretty heavy concessions for what was technically some minor damage(The overall damage and loss of life done by US bombings of Japan itself would far outweigh the damage Japan did as well as the nuclear bombings later). The US's own imperial ambitions were still very strong and would have wanted even more power in the pacific(Something the US has wanted since the 1800s). As for the lives saved, thats debatable. It likely did cause the leadership was ready to let the entirety of the population die off fighting the US, but I feel the threat of the Soviets invading and being far worse occupiers would be a good threat to lean on them, but we weren't going to give the Soviets that chance(Its 20/20 so its hard to say anything other than what happened) I...guess? I was more making a comment about HOI4 showing one form of massacre and not the others. I'm not saying Paradox is purposely putting it in the game instead of the others. I just feel that historical events are important and its important to acknowledge the worse ones. Even the Nanking Massacre noted really undersells how horrific it was. I feel like the other warcrimes of really significant note should be brought up but I imagine players(And censors) would get iffy if ones more familiar to the west got mentioned, like the Holocaust or the starvation of Indian people under British rule during that time. America does some bad shit, trust me I read the many instances of war crimes and attrocities the US has commited, but don't think I'm some idiot weeb who says "Japan do no wrong." Theres the Nanking Massacre, the attempt of erasure of Korean culture and comfort women stuff, the shit they did in Taiwan and other occupied areas of the pacific, the(And admittedly read little on this but a history buff friend told me of this), cannibalizing of Indian soldiers for non hunger reasons. Trust me, the Empire was bad, but I'm not the type who calls one nation bad and the other good, thats ignorant(Even though the Axis were responsible for a whole lot of warcrimes I will admit, I just don't pretend the Allies did none. Seriously, look up what Denmark did to captured German soldiers after the war with clearing landmines). Maybe next time make a comment to someone you know is a actual Warcrime apologizing weeb dude lol.

My girlfriend had never seen the movie before and while this is a war movie, she really enjoyed, even the combat phases, she was hooked, and the historical look of the machines used are great to flavor our thirst for WW2 content.
