Eddie Vedder started out as a San Diego surfer dude, who went to cool rock clubs at night -- and writing a LOT of song lyrics. When he got to Seattle and Pearl Jam was coming together, he had no shortage of material already ready. As for other Pearl Jam songs, there isn't a bad song on Purple. The album is a collection of freakishly great songs.

And while people have some point with it, its by no means better than studio version. "Eddie Voice, expression blablabla" alright, but what about the rest of the band? This song is a whole experience, the guitar passion, the drums cadency, the Bass touching your soul, the building and explosion of everything

Oh, whoever (Steve) suggested this and didn't insist on you watching the Unplugged version made a monumental mistake. Oh and the hair of the bandmembers Lulu will find to be top shelf. Some others for some real fun watch their live version of the song Porch from the PinkPop concert. Fun! Watch the official uncensored video for their song Jeremy. It won video of the year and is widely considered the best music video ever made. It is some difficult subject matter but important and well conceived.

Donna &Lulu, I really like your reactions, and this was just another good one! 😍 excellent choice from patreon. Eddie Vedder, the singer and composer, has a wonderful baritone voice, he's very expressive too, so deserves your apreciation from a live version of "Black", as suggested for many others : Pearl Jam Unplugged MTV. This MTV presentation has many others very good songs to listen to: 'Alive", "Jeremy", "Oceans' etc; all live songs there can be whatched without lost quality, comparing with their studio version. If Donna prefers studio versions, maybe "Jeremy" could start with the official video. Thanks for your channel! And... please, more Deep Purple💜💜💜!

Just to give u a breakdown of Pearl Jam, their debut album 'Ten' in 1991 became a huge commercial success by 1992 after Nirvana broke big in 1991 and brought mainstream exposure to the Seattle rock scene which had them. Pearl Jam was formed after the tragic death of singer Andrew Wood in 1990, who was the frontman of Seattle rockers Mother Love Bone, who had just recorded their debut album... Stone Gossard (guitar) and Jeff Ament (bass) of Mother Love Bone decided to form a new band w/ Mike McCready (guitar) and Dave Krusen (drums)... Pearl Jam was born in 1991 w/ the addition of Eddie Vedder (vocals)... the band worked on a debut album 'Ten' and another tribute album to the late Andrew Wood w/ Chris Cornell of Soundgarden - that project was released in 1991 as 'Temple of the Dog' and became a platinum success as well in '92 w/ the single 'Hunger strike'... Released in the Fall of '91, Pearl Jam's 'Ten' did not sell initially as the band began touring w/ drummer Dave Abbruzzese (Dave Krusen recorded the album but was fired due to alleged drug abuse)... But when Nirvana and their '91 album 'Nevermind' went to #1 on the charts late that year, the music industry looked at breaking Pearl Jam commercially ... MTV put them on the air w/ the singles - 'Even flow'... and 'Alive'... 'Black' also became a radio single... Pearl Jam also appeared on MTV 'Unplugged' that year... It was the powerful music video for 'Jeremy' that gave Pearl Jam a major hit single & a huge sales boost in '92 ... 'Ten' has sold 13 million copies to date in the USA alone. However, Pearl Jam became increasingly disillusioned w/ their massive popularity by 1993... they also felt that 'Ten' was too 'radio-friendly'... They recorded their 2nd album 'Versus' and it went to #1 on the charts without any MTV music videos... Pearl Jam was supposed to appear w/ Nirvana on an MTV concert, but they never showed; Nirvana did the set alone. 'Versus' sold 7 million copies and yielded the radio hits - 'Daughter'... 'Animal' ... 'Go'... 'Dissident'... After the death of Nirvana's Kurt Cobain in 1994, the Seattle scene was shaken up... Pearl Jam released their 3rd album 'Vitalogy' and it sold 5x platinum in the US, #1 on the charts without any MTV promotion... Jack Irons (drums) replaced Dave Abbruzzese... and the band scored more radio hits - 'Better man' ... 'Immortality' ... 'Evacuation' ... 'Not for you'... w/ vocalist Eddie Vedder also adding his rhythm guitar to the Pearl Jam's sound. Subsequent Pearl Jam albums sold platinum, but considerably less as the 90's started to move away from Seattle's 'grunge rock' sound... Pearl Jam released the psychedelic record 'No code' in 1996... and then returned to a rock sound on 'Yield' in 1998... Soundgarden drummer Matt Cameron joined Pearl Jam in '98 and the band's line-up has been the same since. They released more albums since, but few have had the fanfare or popularity of their 90's records... Pearl Jam has also taken up political stances against the 2003 Gulf war and championed women's rights in America. Early on, Pearl Jam demanded that concert ticket prices be lowered to accommodate their fans and openly criticized Ticketmaster for profiting from their popularity to charge concertgoers w/ extra fees.

MTV unplugged version is 10x better and their whole session is just amazing - recommend you watch the live version. I saw them live in 1995 and they blew me away. - Watch 'Even Flow' live too 'Temple of the Dog' - with Chris Cornell. Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Stone temple Pilots need to be viewed too. Chris Cornell (RIP) was a beast.
