I like the fact that he's not trying to outplay anyone. He's always playing different things that bring out the unique features of each kit. It must be a privilage to try out all these amazing drums!

Well, these guys do good and interesting drum demos, but we will have to disagree, that ol Shane here, plays different things, on different kits, he doesn’t, he plays the same thing, the same way, imho, in fact, I can put my phone down, and just have the sound on, and I can tell the difference, when Shane’s playing, or one of the other guys. He does get to play some beautiful, awesome sounding kits and snares.

Solomon Lee yeah it sucks then when people sit so high on the newer drums they look like there playing a kids drumset . They look like like there playing a kids drumset anyways because there so small toms but it’s worse when they sit higher.

@@erictorres4889 Agreed. The guy below this @somethings cantbefixed called em girly man kits. I agree 100%. I never play a bass drum less than 24" in diameter My current is a 14x24 PDP concept maple, my current snare is an 8"x14" Tama birch... and the toms have to be Dave Grohl sizes so 14" or 15" rack toms and 16" and 18" floor toms. A lot of companies still make the power sizes. But its usually for high end kits and special order...so in other words most people cant afford it, its out of their reach. Which I think is sad cuz it shows they're just keeping up with trends. The loss of integrity in the industry now a days is astounding and heart breaking.

With the new generation expecting music downloads for free, the opportunities for drummers to earn decent money for our time,talent and work is getting less. Sad but that's a fact. Anyway on an upnote I think this is the best playing I have seen Shane do and think it suits his style so he deserves to keep this badboy! It would never fit in my car and would break my back carrying it up and down stairs to gigs so I will pass.
@Assimilator702
@Assimilator702 5 жыл бұрын
John Collins This is not the type of kit you would shleo to gigs. This is a statement piece meant to be pampered and cared for. Just get a beater kit to bring to gigs.
@Assimilator702
@Assimilator702 5 жыл бұрын
@@johncollins5552 Huh? Talented musicians are in more demand than any other time in history. There are more bands of every genre now than ever. No one owes anyone ANYTHING. If you can't make a living playing music there's always regular jobs. And as far as musicians not making money off album sales.....blame the record companies for the greedy practices they employed since the BEGINNINGS of pop music through the time when people actually bought CDs. They NEVER paid the artists a fair share. It costs pennies per CD to manufacture and the best deal gave the artists 30 pennies per album sale. Most artists would OWE the record company after a tour. The most disgusting example would be the Motown artists who were robbed blindly. This isn't a new phenomenon associated with modern technology. Technology moves forward and you either adapt or you die. Music streaming would of happened regardless of people downloading music. Now THOSE companies are ripping off the artists. Look at the dinosaurs vs small mammals. One group completely died out and the other thrived. Downloading music didn't kill the music industry......greedy record execs did. And how can you explain the plethora of drum companies? Someone is buying these drums or the companies would close their doors and shops like Drum Center Portsmouth wouldn't be able to stay in business. Rant over....back to our regularly scheduled topic...... drums.

Jack Gildea Maybe your bearing edges were bad? There isn’t as much old growth Maple today as there was in the 80’s. To me these new Maple drums might sound a bit softer, rounder due to the Maple not being quite as dense. It’s not bad per se.....just a bit different.

I've been researching a lot of different kits lately. I'm a classic rock/early metal guy. It's difficult these days because all the kits on offer are soy boy sizes. Some of the floor toms these days are the same size as my rack toms. It seems like a custom order is the only way to get real rock sizes today, which of coarse means a lot more money.

Shallow drums are easier to tune, easier to stay in tune, easier to mix, and easier to haul around when you're on the road. They are shallower for good reasons.

Lol at the girly man and soy boy comments. Fragile masculinity much? Either way, the only way you can get larger drum sizes these days is either go custom (too expensive for most), or buy vintage from the predatory jackasses on Reverb (also too expensive most of the time). At least Pearl is offering intermediate sizes in their drums more so than other companies. Pretty hard to find 13 inch racks and 16 inch deep floors from other companies.

The following year in 78 we used double headed toms on the new quads and the bottom heads had a star cut out of them to give that dry tone. in addition to the scoops. If you want to see the next products before they hit the stores watch drum and bugle corps. that is where the heaviest use comes anywhere in the world.

I'm not getting people's issue with thick shells. The Sonor heavy Beech is another perfect example of how amazing the sonic qualities are of a thick shell, when made properly. They have a punch and a definition to them (I'm not talking volume or "projection"), that is amazing. A thick deep shell is one of the most pleasing sounds on the planet, and records incredibly well. There's a company called Eames in Shane's neck of the woods (comparatively speaking), that makes a thick (up to 12ply....their Mastertone series) birch shell that is to this day one of the best sounding kits I've ever owned. Yes, they can be loud and powerful if you want them to be, but the sound that comes off a kit like that is everything a drum "used" to be meant to sound like. Btw....the snare on that kit sounds UN-BELIEVABLE! Great video, Shane!

Insane kit up close and personal. If you folks get a chance get to DCP and experience the dreamland that Shane and his team created. This man is clearly in his glory with this kit. Hot Dang.

How I feel about this kit is that it rocks, real hard! Man I would enjoy slapping some notes on that bad boy.

Pretty soon I'm going to get my dream drum kit. I'll buy from these guys just so I can consult them and throw my idea of what my drum mind is wanting as far as drum kit. I'm telling you, every video I watched, their knowledge, suggestions and opinion seems so spot on, along side showing great kits from the benefits of a entry level Yamaha Stage Custom to a full on Pro Level Customizable kit like in the video....their videos are always inspiring and you never feel like your watching a pushy, slick QVC sales host....it would be interesting to see a QVC drum channel though...."Today we have Steve Smith joining us and only 15 available Signature Steve Smith Snares. Hurry and order now and get your snare autographed by Steve and we will even thrown in 3 pairs of Steve's signature drum sticks....oh now we are down to only 6 snares left hurry this deal won't last forever....

Thanks, man. That means a lot to us. Coincidentally, we did a QVC-type video once... kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZKlemqGnttsf6M

Those drums sound amazing! Remind me of why I'll never sell my 6-ply/7.5mm Masters Custom Extra kit that I bought new in '98. Not quite as thick, but close in terms of the sound.

The difference between the live mix and the room mics is like the difference between headphones and studio monitors. This kit sounds great either way!

Lol this is awesome, also I really liked the grove you played at the end with eighth notes on the kick and the ride bell on the up beat, I love playing groves like that, I could tell you had fun with this kit.
