I cannot get my beaters to set the same…the slave pedal beater rests about an inch behind the other one. What am I doing wrong? I tried adjusting stroke angle and whatnot but it never got even. Or does it really matter that much lol

Love Slingerland, I have a beautiful vintage '64 5pc Champagne sparkle with matching snare, I've had it since '91 ;-)

Very surprised by the Ludwig "Super 70's"... Yamaha Oak sounds great too. Joyful Noise... my third favorite thus far. Someone I know has one of the newish Yamaha Tours that he uses for gigs... I was shocked by them at that cost. Great gig kit.

And what about the Brady drums who Jeff Pocaro also played and the best sounding snare drums in the world.

I like the Giant Beat most. Opposed to most other opinions here. I guess I am weird.

Great video! I’m surprised how good both the Ash and Pine sounded. Maple is always a go to for good tone wood, but the Ash and Pine are less popular. Great job.

They're all great but that Ash is just sick!

If you guys forced me to choose one for myself, I'd pick the maple. But I'd be happy with any one of these.

The kick and the second mounted on the Pearl Masters sound weird😮 Boopy.

The Sonor SQ2’s and the Joyful Noise easily in my opinion.

I think the Mapex Armory kit sounds well above the price point and better than others in this video.

I actually liked the Paiste 900 a lot. Didn't expect that. Zildjan is good but very loud. Istanbul is maybe the best one but ofcourse expensive.

How about using these for heavy metal/punkrock?

They all sound great but that kick, that thing sounds incredible!

All of them sound awesome with room mics, but with in full mix, this is my ranking: 1. Ash. 2. Pine. 3. Maple.

Pine has the spank and maple has the lows.

Sooo cool. I can’t wait for full drum sets ! Hopefully with 10” toms 😬

To my ears, and just in my phone speakers (YMMV), the pine and ash sound strikingly similar. And they all sound great!

Tough decision. I think overall, the DW kit wins in sound quality as a whole kit. The TAMA kit was lifeless. The Yamaha kit sounded comparable to the DW set except the snare wasn’t as nice sounding compared to the others. I would probably go with the Yamaha kit with a different snare.

Once again Gretsch nailed it with the Brooklyn set!

Nice! Thank you for another great video and a super comparison. More of this please:) Really loved the walnut kit. Would have been seriously tempted to pull the trigger on this kit, but unfortunately I live In Norway, and the price with shipping and taxes is insane...

Own the Yamaha oak hybrid in the uzu ice burst. Never has the look of a drum kit caught my eye the way this did and the sound did not disappoint. The amount of sound that comes out is incredible. I thought my beech custom was great, but the oaks just sing so much more tone out of them. The beech is subdued in comparison. Expensive kit, but totally worth it. It's a forever drum kit. The snare is the best sounding wood snare i've owned, but I still favour my Ludwig snares.

Those die cast hoops on the toms really shorten the duration of the tom ring as well as focusing the overtones. Maybe you want that, or maybe you want the longer sustain of triple flange hoops and more of a spread on the overtones. Wonderful options available.

Am I the only one not being impressed by the sound of that snare? Certainly a collectable, but I have heard snares on this channel which liked much better.

Absolutely impossible to catch this piece of art with microphones. Until today one of the best sounding snaredrums ever produced

My first "real" drum kit was a used Slingerland 4 piece. Wrapped in a chrome finish. I don't know any more about them, other than they were hard as hell to tune, especially the 16" floor tom. I eventually sold them and started making a Ludwig kit from scratch. I started with a 22" Super Maple kick in black.

Did I miss it or was it said how much (roughly) this kit costs? Cause I wanna have such a kit ❤❤❤ What a unit 🙏 The color of it looks a little bit like my 1993 Sonor Force 3000 I bought new in December of 1993 👍 All the best from Germany 🇩🇪, Philipp

I dig the videos you guys put up. One suggestion: can we get a section where you guys don't play any cymbals? I think what you all already do is fine, but I'd like a moment to just hear the drums.

At the price point- pass. Lucky enough I have a 42-47 and a early 50s one that will scratch the itch. Yes they are made by DW, so km sure they're nice but eh..

They all sound great. But to me the Tama and DW stand out. Followed closely by the Pearl set. The Yamaha set was choked and the beef that the others had.. ( based on the video) Your videos are the best!!! Thanks for doing what you do!!!
