Hey everybody, check out this Pearl SensiTone Elite Brass Snare Drum! I love brass snare drums, and this one by Pearl is no exception. The sound has plenty of snap, the sustain is wet and ringy, and there's a ton of expressiveness. The high-quality hoops add to the tone of the drum. I have this and the aluminum in 5 X 14. Two very versatile snares with top-notch components. The brass sounds very much like the Ludwig Black Beauty - and even though it's seamed, has very similar sustain and attack. Warm like brass should be. Pops at high tuning ranges, but this snare really comes alive at medium batter head tuning (Evans Coated G2) with a slightly tighter resonant head. The aluminum version has more character and wider tuning range than a Supraphonic - and similar to an Acrolite, but more depth. The hardware outclasses Ludwig by far (hoops, throw-off, lugs). Can't go wrong with the Pearl Sensitone series!

I just bought something absolutely different; it's a 15" x 6 1/2 Limited Edition Snare! Due to the number on the paper tag inside (1606), it was completed in June 2016. The drum has a 6 ply poplar shell with an inner ply of fiberglass, and the outside of the shell is a satin dark brown burst finish (no lacquer!). I have always liked this size, as it seems to have much more volume than these tiny kid's size 14inchers! I wonder who had once spoken the verdict that nearly all snare drums be 14 inch or even smaller...Just one thought: what would be the sound if Lars Ulrich played a 15" x 6 1/2 or 15" x 8" stainless steel / bell brass snare!? Btw.: I even found a 15" bell brass snare on Ebay Germany! Cost: 1.500 €! OMG!!!

What kind of snare wires are on this snare? Are they the Pearl wires that come with the drum? I actually put Puresound wires on mine and don't care for them.

Yeah, Puresound is a bit overrated

@@sweetwater wow that's surprising, because a guy selling it on a kind of local Craig list here in France sent me pictures a very discreet seam inside the shell ... Would that mean pearl makes them both ways?
