No no. 1) use only the camera mic 2) at least 5 mins of talking before even showing the snare 3) slight tapping on the edge of the head with the snares off for a solid 2-3 minutes to begin with 4) just one bad tuning.

Probably the best snare drum review video I've ever seen. Thanks for taking the time to do it right. In different applications they'd all sound amazing but #1 was the 15" med and high for sure then the bronze. One comment would be to not have transition music between the different drums even though I love the intro/outro music. When I'm listening to the different drums I'm trying to keep the sound of the last one in mind, and often times listen with my eyes closed so I can compare and then the music starts with a different snare sound so it kind of erases the memory of the last drum. I could be the only that cares or listens like this so it's obviously not a big deal. Awesome video either way! Thanks

I thought the mahogany tuned high sounded the best. It had as much snap as the 14's but with a warmth the smaller drums didnt get. That would be fire in a mix (to me, anyway). Makes me want to go spend some money.

At high tunings, all sound pretty good, nice 'n funky. The brass has more cut than the bronze, maybe a tad too much for some genres of music. The mahogany is the "softest" of them which should make it a good option e.g. for singer-songwriter stuff. Going down the tuning range, the bronze is somehow ahead of the competition. It sounds a tad more controlled and warmer. Interesting snare. The maple has no real strengths, nor weaknesses. Solid allrounder-workhorse IMHO. Great compare-video btw. I wish more people would do their snaredrum compares the way you did. Outstanding job.

The bronze and mahogany sounded more deep on the highs' to me. Then on high they all sound pretty snappy-high, but a slight difference., which is surprising, metal isn't much louder to ears. Brass does have a ring, they all sound like studio quality ! It really makes me rethink what I need out of snare if buying one, they all are so unique in sound, but maple always wins.

Bronze vs Brass: You can tell that Phosphorous bronze is more dense sounding than the brass. It produced a higher ping and less overtones. Even if the Brass is 0.3mm thicker than the bronze in construction, it's still less vibrant as Phosphor Bronze is a harder metal than brass.
