Very important point! Thanks for reminding me to always pay attention to the heads. Also, used to own an eight inch diameter Pearl Maxwin concert tom way back in the eighties that had four lugs. It had no resonance whatsoever but if turned very tightly had an earsplitting bark😂 thanks again 😄👍

Yes, the UT Chinese made pinstripes aren't good. I too prefer ambassadors on toms. The 5 lug thing is a non issue in my book. I wouldn't expect anymore than this and it's common. Ludwig CM only uses 4! It would be an issue on a larger drum though. But maybe not if you play Gretsch as 5 lug drums are common for them.

that's an issue on some of the US made Remos i own too.... that's why i mostly use single ply heads since a while....it seemes to be not so easy,and not allways the case,that the two plys of pinstripe and emperors heads lay perfectly above each other.....so ....nothing that's exclusivly on UT Heads.....and definivly nothing that should happen on a head,that cost's the money,the US made heads does....

Sonor SQ1 have 5 lugs on their "8,"10, and "12

Why is everyone making it sound like tuning something with 5 lugs would be hard? As long as the lugs are the exact same distance from each other it shouldn't be an issue at all.

Don't ever buy older TKO drums - they even have 5 lugs per head on the 16' floor tom.
