I have a Paua pearl (NZ Abalone) I found on the beach, Its aprox 30mm round and 20mm deep

It's a shame that natural pearls are so rare, they're quite beautiful, it would be lovely if they were more abundant in nature. I managed to find a couple of natural anomia trigonopsis oyster pearls whilst beachcombing in my local area, their lustre wasn't as high as i would like as they had been washing back and forth at the shoreline for a while after the oysters had died, but, considering their natural origin and beautiful orange colour, i consider myself quite lucky to have found them all the same.

It is fascinating how rare they are in nature. Very nice that you found those, how often do they come up on the shore line?

@@DominiqueFlux very rarely as far as I can tell, there is a great seasonal variance also, so, sometimes there'll be months where not a single oyster shell will wash up on shore, and, at other times the beach with be littered with shell material.

@@DominiqueFlux I initially started looking there after stumbling across a hoard of out-of-place crystals dispersed along the tidal zone late 2017, twas mostly different varieties of quartz crystals with a few pale Brazilian apatites and various other non-local crystals. As a result, it became one of my favourite places to search, hence, my familiarity with the tidal habits.
