For some reason I envoy listening to all of the comments the teacher is saying off camera, it just goes to show how technically difficult ballet is but the ballerinas must stay graceful and fluid. Brilliant!!

hey, don't beat yourself up over not being able to do the splits! (it's a little bit of a ballet cliché, too, and it's not going to make the difference between life and death for a recreational dancer anyway) if it makes you feel any better though, i started last year in february and couldn't even touch my toes. almost exactly a year later i had my front splits down (and of course the dream of touching my toes was reality by then, too ;D), and i hadn't even worked for the splits during that whole year; only the last couple of months. you'd be surprised by what you can achieve if you really go for it!

I think the phrase is "fifth TO Christina." I think he's instructing Maggie to "fight for" the fifth position in the direction of Christina, the pianist, prior to the single tour to attitude. Both dancer and pianist are incredible.

Of course there is!! My former dance teacher once told me that she started dancing at 19, which is extremely late if you think that so many young girls start at 5 or 6. Well, now she runs her own dance studio after a fantastic career in Naples. Passion can make you achieve everything in life!
