Master craftsman Sorin Boicu uses the most basic of hand tools, an axe, adze, draw knife, and a hand auger to make two oak stools with hazelnut legs and ash wedges. Mr. Boicu did a great job with the stool. Something I learned a while back... if Mr. Boicu used the adze cross-grain, he would have had an easier time of it. He would only be taking out chunks the width of the adze and not have to deal with the long splits along the grain. The gouge would only have to remove the high spots left by the adze.

The best stool is a 3-leg stool, with splayed substantially large section leg where it joins the seat, tapering towards the end for elegance.

There's a shortage of your kind in this age. People today go and buy cheap pressboard junk, that often breaks in less than a year. Nice job on the stools, and you've a set of tools that many people wouldn't know how to use.
