This is a great video. I appreciate that you selected the video cuts that focused on techniques and construction to make it easy to follow. The additional info and links to other projects is really helpful also! I'm fascinated with completely unplugged woodworking. These videos bridge the gap between reading books about it and actually seeing the tools in use. I hope you do a lot more! I've subscribed and will keep watching. If I could make a suggestion - a little bit of verbal explanation before or after the work would be helpful for newbies like me. I'd also like to know things like what kind of wood you recommend, whether the wood is still green, what you use to seal it afterwards. Edited - I see you're adding commentary in some of your other videos. Thanks! But even without those things. I'll still be watching. Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge.

Wonderful video. Very spiritual much like The Japanese. I listen to Japanese Shamisen, Koto, and Flute in my shop while I work with hand tools. It keeps me centered and prevents me from rushing.Wonderful bow saw. I just finished a small turning saw. Be well and best regards.

Thanks, I like Japanese music as well, as long as it's the calm stuff. Some of the flute playing gets a little intense sometimes but in general it is good calm stuff.

This couldn't come at a better time. I am holed up in my workshop in a blizzard trying to stop the voices in my head from telling me to make something. I started following the bodgers from the UK last year and need to stock up on my wood processing tools and this piece is perfect. Thank You so much. Doubt it will quiet the pesky vermin in my head though. They are never satisfied by finishing one project, they always want more. You know how it is I'm sure. Great channel.

Inspiring, as always. And the step-by-step process was easy to follow. What type of cordage did you use for the tensioner? And are the pins that hold the blade made of whittled wood or metal? Anyway, nice job and thanks for sharing.
@thehomesteadcraftsman89758 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I used nylon string just wrapped around about 8 or 10 times. It's very strong stuff and easy to get. The pins that hold the blade are just large framing nails that are cut down to size. Thanks for watching.

I really liked the lack of voice over here. I do like your voice overs (I'm a new fan and just binged your trestle table vids), but the simple, elegant nature of the piece lent itself very well to the combination of the pastoral sounds of nature and the sounds of the work. I could just feel the wind on me when I heard it. Great video, thanks!

Thanks, normally I edit all the video then go back, watch it, and start the voice over.....when I watched it this time, I though...."I'm done". I thought the video was self explanatory and represented the reason I was outside doing this kind of work to start with. I appreciate your comment and time spent watching my videos. Hey, I’m looking to get into wood working, and I enjoy using traditional tools as you are in the video. Is it possible I c an have a list of all the tools you own? Or at least what I should buy first to get started. Thank you in advance
@thehomesteadcraftsman89756 жыл бұрын
+Ionatan Strateanu Get yourself some hand tools. Saw, chisels, mallet, measiring tape. A drill and miter saw and you can really get some stuff made. Later a table saw for ripping. Hand tools are good to start. Once you are building your projects will let you know what you need. Take a class or watch a bunch of videos. Look up Paul Sellers. He has a lot of hand tool videos.
@ionatanstrateanu23476 жыл бұрын
The Homestead Craftsman, I don’t know exactly what type of hand tools to get, I’ve already made a work bench with 1/2 plywood top, and a cabinet to go under it, I enjoyed making it but looking for using mainly hand tools and not miter or table saws(even thou I already have access), feels like I’m cheating😂

@thehomesteadcraftsman89757 жыл бұрын
+Amelia Piper I started with cheap chisels, a broken miter saw, an old metal circular saw that shocked me and a black and Decker drill. Most would not be jelous of what it took to get to where I am now. In the end your looking a a few thousand dollars worth of tools that most of my income is based off. Just putting things in perspective. Glad you enjoyed the video.
