This is a GREAT VIDEO from a GREAT TEACHER!🥰 My husband and I were blown away when we found and watched this incredible video!!! He explains everything sooo well!! We can’t wait to watch more of his videos in the future and we definitely will be watching this one a couple more times so we can make our own basket!!🧺 It was such a pleasure watching a master basket weaver at work!!! He demonstrates and describes every single step. He teaches you extremely clearly you can see visually everything he’s doing as he also extremely clearly describes what he’s doing. It’s also really neat to see he and his wife working together!! To see him making a basket from a couple sticks of wood is just amazing! The basket that he made would cost $300 in the states!! What we would do to own a basket that he made!! I love this channel I’m so grateful we found it!! I’m so grateful that you pulled it up for us because it is amazing!! Thank you and God bless you you just seem to be the sweetest kindest man and it shows as your wife also seems to be equally precious!! I recommend this channel to everybody everybody everybody everybody!! KZbin these people are amazing! Best basket weaving I have ever seen from beginning to end a perfect video and a perfect basket that can be used for so many things!! Thank you to these two wonderful people for the gift of knowledge that you have given to our family of how to make baskets we will make them in your honour and put your name on the sides of each basket to show our respect to our teacher! Thank you God bless you and your wife.🙏🏻🥰🥰

I have made a few baskets but don't have this hazel where I live. Moving to Ohio in the U.S. and they have lots of hazel there. This art won't be lost for a while if I have any say in it. Lol

This was one of the best vids I've seen. These split many times and like spruce roots are very strong when woven together. Thank you both for such an interesting lesson and technique! I'd much rather make a basket than buy one and I hope to let you see one that I've made simply because you shared your knowledge with the world.

Great video! You have me wondering now if my mulberry will work. I don't have enough hazel yet, but working on it.
@kellyroup4262
@kellyroup4262 8 ай бұрын
Mulberry will work for frames just don't get too carried away with the bending. Take your time and a mulberry branch will bend into a very small hoop for frames. I've not tried to split it like he done with hazel but I will with this new spring growth because it does have long straight fibers like the hazel.

@@kellyroup4262 I am just getting to this and finding it challenging to get more than 1 rib off a mulberry branch. I am going to try to rive the branch into 4 or 3 ribs then shave them down to see if that will work. The one rib I am getting is great, but just seems like a waist of a whole branch to only get one rib out of it. I will figure it out but want to thank you for a great video! I do have hazel here but it is not established enough here yet to be viable. Takes time to figure all this out.
