I wish that she had shown the entire process. Im guessing that the twist across the bottom is what held the initial fronds together to start the weave. Still pretty impressive.

I came across another nice video, a young lady from UK living in the Lakes District near Scotland, she makes baskets from everything, it s really great and interesting. She is using various plants, such as dandelions tubes, corn husk, catttails, willow and tree peel, Irises, Narcissus and many others. Her shop is called FORAGED FIBERS.
