Man. I'm glad I picked up Sidearm Sideswipe. This looks like a good toy, but the paint is too bland compared to what we got out of ROTF. Nice review

@loltransformer To me I was initially disappointed after unboxing it: it was really small. But as I played with it more and noticed all the details of this mold, I didn't have any problems with it anymore. $19.95 is a bit more than you should be paying, imo.

@mrnik1224 The exhaust pipes were on the top because they could be displayed as machine guns on his back on his back, and it doesn't matter if the head lights look like the rear lights, AND the roofless backpack is nothing to complain about.

I like watching how many times the figures fall apart. It's funny ' cause they are trying to be professional, but they come undone, just like the toy...lol!

@chino0moreno yes man . probably the reason we don't have the mercedes and ferrari till now is that hasbro has no contract with mecedes or ferrariand those are the ones i want badly too . we get all those cars which are general motors .but they still had the rotf sideways - the audi r8 . so m not sure . they may bring them out later this year. and they did not make prime leader because they cannot make a leader prime which is better than the rotf leader . btw ,did u get any dotm toys til now ?

Looks like Sidearm Sideswipe is still the way to go. I may pick one of these up anyways, though, if for nothing more than something to practice my repainting skills on. With a figure that isn't even painted, where could I possible go wrong?

I bought this months ago and opened it last night. Really dig the DOTM sideswipe: it's full of details (albeit lack of paint) and the drop top adds 10000x flavors to it. Wouldn't be a bad idea for more autobots come in convertible format: it looks nice and significantly eliminates the backpack problem. Hasbro you herrrd?

i love how this figure looks it combines the original with the sidearm version because it has both weapons and its head is actually normally sized

In hand, the colors are a lot better. He may be pretty much unpainted, but he does have paint apps where it counts (grill, corvette logo, etc.) and his plastic is this nice beige/silver color, a great color for a luxury car- which Sideswipe turns into. Yes, I consider this particular Corvette prototype to be more of a luxury car. If anything, his lack of paint makes him VERY easy to customize. But that's all beside the point, he's a very highquality figure. Very nice, I don't regreat a thing.

I think this is the best Sideswipe in my opinion. Im okay with the color, but this Sideswipe, good for me because it has a firearm AND his swords. I know alot of Sideswipe figures only had Swords or just 2 guns (ROTF Deluxe Sideswipe, HFTD Firearm Sideswipe, etc.).

I was torn between Sideswipe, Jolt, or Roadbuster. Ended up going with SS. Mistake. I almost took the only Bumblebee, but since I already had a yellow Sunstreaker, I put BB down, and then some kid took him.

Anyone have any idea about what might have led to the decision for not having the silver paint? This really sucks... I like this character and this toy looks good. But somehow the association of Sideswipe with the metallic silver is too strong to overcome.

Gotta admit I'm hoping for a repaint on this guy. so grey. So very grey. He's nice looking but ... Grey. He'd look really good in straight thundercracker blue or sunstreaker yellow. Looks like a great figure but the drab makes me sleepy. Why cut caffeine?

the alt mode looks cool but im not to crazy about the transformation or the robot mode. its not even because of the lack of paint, theres just something setting me off about it. i have sidearm sideswipe, and i think i can easily say that that mold is better, though theres only so much one can judge from a computer screen

i am not that fust if its got a lack of paint apps as if your a sideswipe fan the blades are the most important and the armory(That rifle) too. The japan one may be more movie accurate in paint but hasnt got the blades which signifys his name sideswipe

hasbro tried, but they just cant get it right. rotf swipe was almost perfect,cept the feet. then sidearm swipe got good feet, but no blades. this one got weird feet and half blades. so i guess you could say its in the middle.

my ROTF sideswipe's leg connection broke (the rubber part) so im looking for a replacement. i have rally sideswipe (blue sidearm sideswipe) but that kinda detracts from the "sideswipe" feel.... :/ i might get this one but that means -20$ to my toy cash reserve :/
