Hello just caught this vid after hearing the Warwick corvette vid. The bass does sound amazing I can the Ken Smith tone, also one of the tone put me in mind of a music man, but for some crazy reason when you played flat finger style or slap it sounded like a roscoe lg.

Thanks for subscribing and hanging out. This is actually the Indonesian factory preamp that comes with the bass. it's some kind of chinese pre but works well for this bass.

Thanks for that. I’m asking because I own a bass which sounds very close to the Cirruses . It’s got Barts on it and a Seymour Duncan pre in it. The major difference is that mine lacks of that “ping” right in the top end and I’ve been considering swapping the preamp for a Aguilar or Bartolini or whatever. I think the one it has is a bit too subtle and needs one a bit more aggressive. Any input will be highly appreciated.

@@TheBassix1 An OBP3 will def do the trick. I recently installed one in a Cirrus 6 and that thing is really aggressive with that “snap” on top.

It’s some kind of Chinese preamp. Was questioning it at first until I did the setup on this bass. This thing really sound great for the price!!!!!

I wonder if that preamp has a gain control on the preamp that can be adjusted; the pickups sounds great and the bass sounds great but they sound too hot with the bass boosted.

Exactly. Active pups and active preamp failure. Nope and actually this bass just came back-in to change out the preamp. Putting an OBP3 in there, I will complete install and upload video later this week.

I have a american custom shop. If they had made these with 18 or 19mm string spacing , these basses would be unbeatable.

I have a Cirrus 4 from Indonesia but it seems to give a different sound than the 5-string, I don't know what could be the fault, the same pickups and electronics, only some older strings now

Not really sure, everything here is factory with a fresh set of strings and a new setup. I said 3rd party "pre" meaning its not the original US pre like the pickups and I'm guessing none of the Indonesian models come with it.

@@DaMaestro the american preamp in the cirrus is a printed circuit board, the preamp in my bass is a block where wires come out, maybe the difference in bigger pickups is in the 5 string

@@danielbeemstra3059 Yessir... that’s what I was saying. The only thing I see in the Indonesian models that’s factory is the pups, everything else is third party.

It is now 2 years later,I adjusted the potentiometers of my Indo Cirrus BXP preamp (G&B),the volume pot with A25K the mid and treble with B25K the bass pot B50K left as it was and the balance pot also 25K,the sound is now quite better. @@DaMaestro

Yes. Other than black hardware (the US versions have gold) I just don’t see/hear the difference. The bxp 5 is a real joy to play.

This is an Indonesian version of the Cirrus. The Ibanez’s build quality is def better but just depends on what tonal characteristics you are looking for.
