My buddy is a caddie at Pebble. He swears people walk up and get tee times often on the spot. I told him that I’ll go when I think I am good enough and he said don’t bother. He literally gets people who have never played before, like never, they have never even swung a club, but just want to play Pebble.
@yakkyuu122 жыл бұрын
Walking up to get a tee time, is almost impossible and if you do, you WILL be going out at 6:30 when the fog has rolled in and no one wants that time, this will not let you see your shots, or you could with little or no chance, get out at a LATE Twilight time and get lucky to get 9 holes in! If there are ONLY few people left on the course to make it possible; They WILL tell you at the pro shop, you are limited and what time the course closes-- with all that -- it is a highly improbable for you to STILL get a late twilight time! I will agree there are a LOT of WEALTHY people who have NO idea how to play, most can't get around their local muni course, and STILL play there; they have a combination of money to spend and time! They WILL spend more than 3 days at one of the lodges that will give you preference in tee times-- those lodges most are about $700 a night and much more!. This video was honest about MINIMAL costs! The homes on Pebble ALONE, make TP SAWGRASS look MIDDLE CLASS. and Sawgrass is so nice, this is where you understand what REALLY deep pockets and prime location meet! If you want a REALLY great inexpensive venue that has a LOT of great views and is VERY well taken care of -- play -PACIFIC GROVE- quite a few holes are very close to the beach, it is a shorter course and very close to Pebble area!

I've played whistling Straits. Play it twice. The first time playing it, it's hard to get the sight lines off the tee. Request the most involved caddy you can get. It would help a great deal. I also agree with you about Pebble Beach. I personally don't think much of the course. The views are certainly outstanding. If you get to Wisconsin, play the American Club. Play Black Wolf Run for sure. Erin Hill's is a tremendous test and beautiful. Sand Valley is easily the most fun you will have. Not nearly as difficult as the other courses on the list.

I want to travel from Australia to America in September or October this year with my dad to play Pebble Beach, Sawgrass, Bay Hill, and a few others in California or Florida, maybe PGA National, PGA West, Doral, etc. Its already a little expensive flying from Australia so its disappointing Pebble Beach has now made it very difficult for normal people to play. When I contacted Pebble Beach by email yesterday they said its a MINIMUM THREE night stay in one of their hotels to get a tee time (3K USD). There is also the option of staying in the area and calling the day before to see if they have any tee times, but when you are already spending thousands of dollars on just the airfares from Australia, its disappointing Pebble Beach make it so unreasonable to play there. It does not seem like a public course, its more a public course only for the rich. I dont play these days much because of back issues, but when I did play regularly years ago I was off a scratch handicap, so Pebble Beach dont even care about good golfers playing there, its only the rich they want. Very sad. Sawgrass and other top courses in America seem easier to play and way less expensive. They should just change to a fully private course and get it over and done with.

I get to play Pebble Beach for less than half the price, my Pebble Beach green fee is 250 almost all year round. But even with the discount I almost never play Pebble. I am lucky enough to be a member at MPCC and in my opinion both the shore and dunes are better than Pebble. Greens and fairways are always perfect and both courses are beautiful. If you are ever back in the bay area contact me and maybe we could schedule a tee time! Also we do not live in Pebble Beach we are from Mexico so we rent our apartment which is on the 17 mile drive on airbnb for a much lower price which I think is a much better option than staying at the lodge yo save quite the cash.
@patrickjordan37694 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Shores and Dune course at MPCC are both better. Pebble beach is really more in a bay/Stillwater Cove than the pacific ocean. Those pictures of waves crashing into the 18th hole are faked on the pebble beach website. Other courses like Spyglass, Spanish Bay, both courses at MPCC truly have much better views.
@yakkyuu122 жыл бұрын
@@patrickjordan3769 MPCC is a nice course and with a lot of views, the other courses you mentioned do have great views, NONE are cheap and MPCC is NOT as hard as PEBBLE. Sorry, I have played both and Pebble is better, that is not to say Sawgrass is not great, it is, but Pebble is at LEAST 3 notches above Sawgrass! There are 2 things that do diminish the Pebble experience; 1)the cost 2)and sometimes if they are Aerating greens or working on the course, there is NO discount and that is not right for this kind of cost! As far as the course, views and whole venue-- Pebble wins, hands down! I still really like Sawgrass, great bang for the money, but you need some honesty about how wonderful this course is and the whole venue!

Of course there are less expensive good courses to play, but if one wants to play Pebble Beach, there is no substitute. I shot a dazzling 115. I was impressed with the beauty of the course and the views. Couldn't concentrate on golf. I just thought I knew how to read greens. Fast is not how I would describe the greens at Pebble. You know how it goes, the worse you play the worse it gets. I would never waste my hard earned money again on something as silly as that.

The reason that this video has so few reviews after 4 years is that most people can't relate to spending that much $$ on a golf weekend when they have a million other choices to spend their hard-earned $ on. Things like rent/mortgage, car payment(s), kids' education, medical bills and the like. My family and I made well over in the 6 figures last year and while I love watching golf and playing courses near my residence, I'm here to say that I'll take a hard pass on this edifice to luxury and free spending. Golf well, friends, and hit 'em straight.
