I had the same thing happen to me with my Ex girlfriend. She had to have the Umbrella cockatoo.. After having Him 2 months she decided she made a mistake. I had told her not to purchase the parrot. Long story short I am now the owner of the bird who is now 23 years old. He is the love of my life.

Or research how to care from one for a few years & accumulate everything you'll need before purchase. I hate how people think its just a pet. No, thwyre babies&stay babies ,they need us as much as a newborn would. For 80+ years! Most of us will leave our parrots in our will or to our children when we pass away. Not to mention the bi-yearly vet bills & unexpected sicknesses & special vitamins & minerals. People have no clue how much it actually takes. They just want a cool looking talking bird.they don't care about all hehe care it takes. And that shit pisses me off.

Hi kelly and pebble, I also have two rescued bird's. I think sometimes people see a cute parrot talking and think " I must get one of those ". They don't always realise how much time you have to put in looking after these birds. When people say it must be great having such an lovely bird. I say it's a lot like having a toddler around, they need care training and need to be with you most of the time. I live alone now my kids have grown and left home. These birds are very intelligent and each has its own personality, but sometimes getting you trust sometimes takes a bit longer. And yes they aways seem to say the most inappropriate word when you least expect it. Ive had some very funny moments when a repair man was fixing some wiring and my Trevor decided to ask what he was doing, and i walked in to the repair man explaining a fuse breaker to my bird. He was so embarrassed when he realised he hadn't been talking to me, but my bird instead, just as well he see the funny side of it. Love you all x

Since he is talking about me, it is my right to speak up against defamatory remarks. I never abandoned or neglected the birds, that statement he made is a complete and total lie. There was a 3rd party involved that did a transfer of the birds he kept, and the ones I kept, which I moved to Toronto, as we had moved there. I still have the messages with her, and she was not a part of the parrot rescue as he claimed that someone contacted him saying I abandoned and neglected them, and didn't want them anymore. He asked for Mika in the family court documents, then in the video goes off about how I didn't want him... ah, he wanted him and made that clear in his list of stuff he wanted when we split. He makes comments saying he said rude things, then says cricket, pebble, and him had to leave. But he leaves out that between the rude things he said and leaving that he assaulted me viciously, and I now have a disease in my back from fractured vertebrae. I will absolutely take responsibility for slapping him first, which I told police myself. I was also charged but mine was thrown out. The slap came after hours of his screaming, and when he said my son was nothing more than a disease, yes I slapped him. My son is special needs. He was removed by police, given 1 hour to get his stuff and go. So he didn't just say rude things, it was assault. He tossed me into a lawnmower, fridge, deep fryer and concrete. After being removed and given strict conditions, he then breached the no contact order many times over, all charges he pled guilty to, was given a conditional sentence of 18 months and a bunch of fines for breaching the no contact order. He makes a claim in the video that none of the birds liked me, they only liked him. Well if that was true, I would not have been able to take parrots out for public shows with them and have them cooperate with me. There are photos online in a media article of me and my son at the shows. At the time of the article he was not involved with any of the shows we did. I took them to nursing homes, schools etc.. So to make that kind of claim that they didn't like me, and I just kept going and going and going with getting birds is absolutely inaccurate. He was involved with getting every bird in some way, shape or form. These kind of lies are so unnecessary, and he posted it 5 years after we split. I was not paying attention to his channel and could care less. But something inside of me told me to go look, and when I heard what he said I was horrified. The video had been up for 1.5 years already when I saw it. That should speak to the level of attention I give his channel. But when I discovered it, my father was very sick and I was not focused on replying to this defamation. Over time this has played on me, as it is my reputation. Just because he was the main one in the videos did not mean he was the one actually caring for them on a full time basis. He made me out to be an animal abuser, and a horrible person. I did not want to air my laundry like this and did not say anything until now, because I have made a decision I have to confront this. Why would anyone expect that 5 years after we split he would still be coming after me, but he did so online. It shows me he wants to continue abusing me in some way, shape or form. . My son is who saved my life that night. He does want to speak because he is so tired of the lies from him. He witnessed some of the assault, and had he not unlocked the garage door from the inside of the house I don't know what would have happened. I won't speak for my son, he can tell his story. But I am forever grateful to him for opening that door when he did, and I was able to escape. People can think what they want about me speaking up, but I feel it is only right to respond to the ridiculous allegations he made about me in this video. Enough is enough! Stop bullying me, and stop spreading lies about me that I can 100% prove you are lying about. The only thing you got right was the lovebirds and adopt dont shop. The rest aboht me is a load of bullshit and you know it!

A lot of the WPR birds found homes but many are still there waiting. :( People who want birds should volunteer with rescues to see the work involved before adopting! It can be eye-opening since only a small % of time with birds involves the cute, funny, silly moments seen on the internet.

Up to that point parrots had been nothing more than simple birds that could mimic human speech like a tape recorder to me. Then I started to watch more videos about Pebble witch lead me to other Cockatoo-vids and later other parrot ones and then bird -ones in general. It truly changed my view on birds all together. To me they are no longer just birds, but a truly intelligent species that can give us so much in love and respect. They are truly beautiful and Pebble is the one who made me appreciate them.

Bless you for rescuing all these wonderful birds. I know they are a lot of work, but you seem to really take good care of them. I’ve had two hookbill parrots, a cockatiel and a lovebird. The cockatiel was a package deal with my wife who was so selfish she didn’t notice the cockatiel was losing its mind being alone. I found a lovebird for him. they bonded and they lived a good long life. I raised five bulldogs in a row with not much help from the same now ex-wife. People would fall in love with them and tell me they were going to buy a bulldog. Like birds, there are a lot of work that pay huge dividends, but I found most people don’t have the time and the money and love to give them the attention that they really need.

I agree Kelly. Birds are so much work. Its not a easy task. I have 1 but plan on getting another. It is costly also. Glad to see you on more. Love you and pebbles and seeing the other birds. God bless

It's so sad how many are purchased compulsively and quickly become homeless. They deserve happy lives . .beautiful, innocent creatures ....and they bond and miss their humans....pebbles is happy wherever u r....

I have always wanted a bird like Pebbles, and same colour. And I know someone who hears about rescue birds. But out East, where I am, not many vets care for them and the ones that do are still about an hr away and cost so much money, I can’t do it. So, I watch your Pebbles.

Silly Pebbles...You know Kelly, I really wanted a Pebbles and then I started watching all the birds I could find on You Tube and I must say it has changed my mind, I've been thinking of getting a bird for a few years and I'm glad I did watch the videos and the do's and don't's when having a bird and all the screeching noises they make and the things they tear up and destroy. So I'm not getting a bird but I will continue to watch all my favorites here on the Tube and leave the expert stuff to you all....your a great dad to Pebbles and it shows.

God bless you Kelly and Pebble and all the little birds. I live in the city and for nine years I have had a personal relationship with a pair of Thayer's Gulls on the rooftop across from my kitchen window. I throw a few handfuls of cat kibble out to them most mornings and have hundreds of photos of them at all times of their year - they love to pose for me. : )

I mean leaving birds in a cereal box in a parking lot in the cold. What's wrong with people. Great job Kelly. Pebbles is so lucky now (and are you for having her in your life). Thanks for sharing this with us.
