Please consider the importance when Kelly say's "Adopt don't shop." Imagine living 80-100 years (mostly alone) in a cage, specifically for the purpose of breeding. To me, it's inhumane and cruel.

Most birds do wind up tending to like males or females better, but I would guess Pebbles is full of love and appreciation for her rescuers. Pebbles has an interesting history that this amazing dude rescued her from, check out his video on that!

Thx for these videos, We just Love Pebbles. At the Bird shop I managed, we had a conure that calls everyone assholes, all the time. People would ask us “Did she just call us an asshole?” we always replied “ no, no she wants an Apple”. They started bringing sliced apples for the rescues and boarders. Was great.

Peebles is so cute. I have a 28 year old goffin cockatoo that I've had since Comiskey was 7 weeks old. She is a trick bird more than talking but, I love her just the same. Enjoyed watching you and Peebles.

Lots of respect to you dude, I used to live next to a family that had a cockatoo in a large cage that never was taken out of it (and the cage was at the side of the house, outside that faced a wooden fence). They never spoke to it and only attended to it to feed it. Naturally it screeched almost endlessly all day. I was really bothered by it, they were abusing that intelligent animal and it was going stir crazy from a lack of companionship. Before I moved out I ended up calling animal services, and from what I've heard later the bird and their dogs were removed from them and put into a rescue centre. Unfortunately most animals get put down there, but I'm hoping that everything turned out okay. People shouldn't have pets ever, unless if they've rescued them and are willing to put in the same effort with their pet as they would a child - they're a lot of work, and with animals like cockatoos they could even out live you if you adopt at an older age.

depending on what year that was, when animal control is called they then contact the proper authorities for animals other than the typical domestics such as dogs, cats, hamsters, etc. Parrots are considered "exotics" and either Zoo's are contacted or the nearest parrot rescues and or societies are contacted. :) I sure hope that one was sent to a Local Parrot rescue because they'd have found him a home where he can be loved and flourish, like Pebble or my Senegal who we adore!

Kelly, I don't know all of your story, but I know some of it has been sad. You and Pebbles have been making me happy for years. I have my own little sanctuary here, all of the birds that come here stay until their forever, they are all guaranteed a window view, 24/7, out of the cage time if they want it, practice learning to fly after wings grow back from some of the awful wing clips, and it is unreal what humans have done to some of the most incredibly beautiful creatures. If anybody is inspired to get a bird because of watching Pebbles, please look at rescues. Birds in rescues sometimes come with a lot of baggage, but when you break through, and they realize their life is going to be different forever, there is no greater reward. We have so many success stories here, that once upon a time were nightmares. Some of the birds here will never be hands on, they just need to be loved and taken care of, and even they have come around to trusting hands in their cages, getting caught for nail clips etc. But others, all I can say is that I am busier taking care of all of the birds the way they should be taken care of, then I ever was raising 4 children. Thank you for loving her. Thank you for doing whatever it was that you needed to do so that she got to stay with you, and not have her life turned upside down, again. They can handle so much, if we stay strong through our troubles. I love Pebbles, admire you and I wish we could save them all, while knowing that we can't even make a dent. Here is to hoping that some day, countries will quit allowing birds, especially big birds who can live as long as a person, from being bred for profit. Have a great day

The big pet store chains here in the states no longer sell large birds that will outlive their owners. Too many people purchase these birds not realizing this fact. Pebbles you are awesome!!!!!
