First error was only worth pennies. I think many people put the weight of an error as you lose all potential value for that given hand rather than the small 1-2% reduction in average value of the hand by itself.

I just love your intros. In my local, there are only 2 machines that go to $2 denom. I don't play Bonus as you know, I also get crap for free play. However, I totally agree on the strategy of going to higher denoms if the machine seems to be playing well. I start at .50 and go from there. Once in awhile I can get to $2 from $100 backroll. John, I would absolutely cry out loud if I played Bonus and hit 4 aces/k or other quads with kickers. You have the stamina and enjoyment playing Bonus. At the $300 level, not having hit a quad, I would have gone to DDB. Heck, you had a decent ride till that point. Would have tried DDB for at least $120. In my humble opinion, if a machine is being friendly, it will probably hit quads or better. OK stepping down from my soapbox.....LOL
@johnsworldofvideopoker2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Janis, for liking my videos. Based on 800-1,000 hands an hour played, I expect (on average) to hit a quad every 20-30 minutes. I agree on stepping-up to 9/6 DDB too, but at the $2 coin denomination, I would be more comfortable having a $600 House money bankroll to do so (in order to be able to withstand the volatility of DDB or TDB). However, I have done what you’re suggesting and many times, it has worked very well.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

Yes, thank you. As you can see with my most recently released video, I’m back to the original format of my videos that feature only me. I only have 2 videos, (in my library videos from the John’s World channel), that feature someone other than myself. One was “Queen of Hearts” and the other was “Pechanga at High Noon: Deuces “Wild”West”. Neither of those videos had broad appeal to the general viewer. Both videos were undertaken to gage, wether or not, viewers would be interested in viewing the video poker play of actual subscribers to John’s World of Video Poker. Neither of the 2 subscribers had any idea that I was going to feature them in a video until they met me. I just asked them if they wouldn’t mind if we filmed a video poker session together and later included them in an upcoming video to gage viewer interest. They agreed that it might be interesting and fun to give it a try. And it was. Unfortunately, it doesn’t translate well in terms of appeal to my viewers. I guess we could call it “market research”. And the conclusion is, there’s not a viable interest in featuring other players on the channel. So I get it. I tried it, and I found out the answer. It’s actually easier for me to do what I’ve always done in my videos anyway, which is; to fly solo. And I do appreciate the feedback that I’ve gotten from you, and other viewers, that prefer the original format. So, the original format it is. Regarding the banner, I should have used a Pechanga Red Card. I did reach 7-Stars with Caesars & also the Black Card with Wynn and it’s the many Royals that I’ve hit in video poker that got me there. So the answer is, Yes, video poker can greatly enhance a player’s ability to achieve the highest tier levels. It’s just not clearly drawn out enough in the video. I will re-work the banner and replace it with a more suitable one tomorrow. Thank you for your insights and your viewership of my channel. The ship has been righted.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

Hi, Terry, no problem. There are times that I cash out and add that amount to the next session’s bankroll for larger denomination play, or sometimes I’ll run it through again and again (as many times as the RNG will let me) until either a Royal pops-out or the casino reclaims it’s own money. Since I add very little money of my own (while leveraging House money) I’m prepared to let it all go back in (depending on the size of the win). One good session win by year end at high denomination returns all my money any way, so I don’t consider any small losses accumulated over time as much of a gamble; especially since most of it is House money re-cycled through the machine.🌎

The 7/5 Bonus Poker pay table is a mid-tier game and is an acceptable pay table. I have won over $70,000 on 7/5 BP machines when nothing better is available. I would play the 7/5 BP pay table with a $200 bankroll (preferably on the 50¢ coin denomination instead of the 25¢ coin denomination. After a big win, switch to 8/5 BP at the $1 coin level by using the House money that you won on the smaller denominations to subsidize that higher level of play. Isn't it better to always max bet? Because based on my understanding of how casinos hand out comps, they will always reward people with the higher average bets.
@johnsworldofvideopoker2 жыл бұрын
In video poker, the 5th coin bet, allows for a payout of 800 coins to 1 when the Royal Flush is hit. Since 5 coins were wagered that’s 800 X 5 = 4,000 coins. So yes, it is best for the player to maximize their payout by max-betting. It is better to max-bet at a lower denomination to achieve full payout than to “less-than-max-bet” at a higher denomination and miss-out getting paid the full 4,000 coins. And you’re right, the comp system favors players who wager more relative to those that don’t. Comps have value and are a factor in a player’s “return” from the casinos.🌎
@kevinklugow64762 жыл бұрын
In my local casino, the pay table is poor, 6/5 for" jacks or better", but there is no penalty for a less than max bet. In other words on a 2 coin bet on a quarter machine, a Royal Flush pays 400. Does this increase the payout percentage on the machine?
@johnsworldofvideopoker2 жыл бұрын
I don’t believe I’ve seen a pay table like that: a Royal usually pays 250 for 1 coin, 500 for 2 coins, 750 for 3 coins , 1,000 for 4 coins, and 4,000 for a 5 coin bet. So instead on a 2-coin bet you’re getting 400 coins and not 500 coins? That would be a penalty alright. I’d like to see a photo of that pay table….please send that to johnsworldofvideopoker@gmail.com if you’re able to. Thanks.🌎

Greetings from Torrance! Absolutely. Positively. Fantastic video! I love seeing "Numbers on Paper" I try to play smartly (but, me no smart) by looking for patterns or trends. There is a finite period that every machine has where it is "Hot". I kick myself every time because I didn't take advantage and worse, not taking advantage of house money. That was probably the best explanation I have ever heard about when to increase your bet. I have been on hot machines in the past, but I could have played much smarter (again, me no smart) A lot of people tend to play emotionally. A smart player tends to play with a direction in mind. This video was a "Wow" moment because a light went off in my head. Thanks again for your wisdom and direction!

Thank you, Paul. I always enjoy the depth of your commentaries. And you’re always coming from a place that enlightens others and empowers them. In regards, to machines that are on a hot-streak, there are rare occasions that the hot-streak has no “bottom”. It just hits, and hits, and hits, and hits. And sometimes this lasts for 2 solid hours, or 12 straight hours, or an entire weekend. Be sure that you recognize this if it occurs……They are what I call “a video poker tsunami!” They don’t happen often, but when they do, take it to the hilt! They’re life changers. When they occur, the casino has to “sweat-it-out” because the player is taking them to the cleaners and there’s nothing they can do to stop. I’m sure they wish they could “unplug” the machine!😝🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

There are times where I’ve won really Big doing that inadvertently and on purpose!🤣 I don’t recommend it per se necessarily, but then again we are “gambling” and taking “short term” long shots is merely “the gamble” within a “gamble”. A good example would be holding the 3 Aces & letting go of the full house in order to hit Quad Aces. I don’t recommend it, but it my bankroll were way up, let’s say, on a $100 coin denomination machine, I “might”🫣 take that shot. The difference would be between winning $4,000 vs. $40,000. It’s not correct, and doing that every time would be very detrimental to your long term success, but it does “give one pause” contemplating it!😝🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

This is nonsense. You're stating the typical theory of a machine is "hot". That is mathematically rhetorical. The machine adheres to a payback percentage. As quick as machine is hot it can be cold. By your estimation if a machine is hot therefore press your bet, as you would on a dice table ot blackjack, this is not the case on video poker. I understand the theory, but it's factually incorrect. You can't look at things in hindsight by misleading people. Also, why do people need to play on a slow setting? To slow down losses? I play on max speed and don't make errors. Again, bad advice.
@johnsworldofvideopoker Жыл бұрын
There’s NEVER been a player in the entire history of video poker that doesn’t make errors. There’s essentially 2.6M hands in video poker and the difference between some of those choices is razor thin. Perfect play isn’t required to win at video poker; “near-perfect play” is “good enough” to be successful in video poker. However, bankroll management is just as important or, dare I say, even “more important” than perfect play. Also, If the player is ramping-up the speed of the game, there is even less time “to process” the correct holds on close calls, plus a weak-spring or sticky button can often times lead to inadvertent errors. “Perfect” play doesn’t mean a player wins long term in a negative expectation game. You can hold the correct cards and hit Royals, you can hold the incorrect cards and hit Royals, and you don’t have to hold any cards at all and can still hit Royals. I agree that every hand is random and independent, and therefore, a machine can be “hot or cold” (so to speak) in any given moment. Yet, still, I took a single $100 Bill, and in 3 hours; hit 3 Royals for a total win of $110,000 by scaling-up the coin denominations as the machines were doling out great combinations on “favorable runs” and I “scaled-down” the denominations when the runs were “cold” (i.e. less favorable). This allowed me to put myself on the highest denomination possible as the myriad of Royal Flush combinations passed-through during the session. The 1st Royal was $2,000, the 2nd Royal was $8,000, and the 3rd Royal was $100,000. I’ve had more than 5 runs where multiple Royals were hit (to total more than $40,000 on those sessions) with very small starting bankrolls. This was achieved through effective bankroll management while scaling-up or down, as needed, with the coin denominations. If nonsense is what’s required to win in video poker, I’ll take it.🌎
