My thoughts exacly. Although if they take a couple rated chains to hold it in working position and only adjust with no weight on it, it'll probably do just fine as it is.

@davidrumsey3180Ай бұрын
If you extend the boom out and put some weight on it, don't be surprised if that single winch line breaks or the winch overloads. There is a lot of leverage working against the winch, especially with the boom low. Definitely put a sheave or snatchblock on the boom and double the boom lift cable through it to get a 2:1. Or even multiple sheaves to get 3:1 or 4:1. You don't need speed for lifting the boom, you need force.. a single line isn't the right way to get that. And remove some of the winch line from the drum so the winch is working on the first (innermost) layer of line, where it has more pull.

That was what I was thinking too. Make them square and leave about 1" triangle hole in the corners so water and dirt will come out of them.
@Mike_AllegroАй бұрын
You should ditch the winch for the boom and and put in a hyrdaulic cylinder. It will be way stronger and safer.
@sabinenoack3041Ай бұрын
And it will stop the boom from bouncing when driving offroad.

Thanks for sharing your welding failures. That was pretty vulnerable. So you all know, I delivered (I'm their UPS driver) those shocks Friday at about 4pm. There was no stress coming from anyone. I asked, "When does the mini truck need to be done?" Caleb answered, "Saturday night." I was more worried than they were. I was waiting for the Sunday morning video to see that they got it all together. They have really put in the hours.

Man that's so cool! Now just pot a few snach blocks from the headache rack to the boom for easier and more lifting force. Matt's off road has 4 or 5 snach blocks on the off road wreckers boom. Plus it looks cool seeing all the pullies in a series that way!! You guys crack us up! Brotherly love!!
@kevinhood8756Ай бұрын
Drady. You need to make you some metal buckets to bolt down below the chains. That way you can adjust the chains really easy on each side. Don’t run it back on its self. And don’t run bolts through the chains to get lost. Also. The winch that adjust the boom needs at least to be tripled. from the headache rack back to the boom. Good luck 👍🏼
@robertlantz2206Ай бұрын
Just saw you on Matt's channel showing him the mini wrecker so I thought I would take a look. I like what your doing and will be watching from now on👍👍👍
@allenpeachy3987Ай бұрын
A length of black pvc pipe with an endcap mounted vertically on the headache rack under each of the new support chain shackles would hold the excess chain without rattling. A ½" hole in the end cap would let water drain.
@iexcav8534Ай бұрын
You should put a pulley on the boom lift winch. On the boom and hard point back to the roll bar. Better then just the single line there !!!!!
@Wobbles_offroadАй бұрын
Just saw the chain set-up and you guys should run a grade 70 style chain or grade 100 alloy. Much much stronger and reliable that galvanized chain is actually surprisingly weak. Love the build!

Hi guys. I'm from Greece and my English aren't so good. I think that when the "damaged" car is lifted and both cars are on the move, the rear one will swing back and forth. It would be nice something like a tow bar or a triangle on hinges on the bumper of the mini truck. Thumbs up!!!!!!!
@jasonhovey815Ай бұрын
You guys should build some tube 1/2 doors for the mini truck. Like others have said a chain on both sides of the boom and double the winch line back to the headache rack. Maybe think about fabing up some kind of bar that will keep the jeep from hitting the back of the truck when towing. Have a mount on the back of the truck an a match one on all the jeeps. Looks great

I don't have a few hundred hours of aluminum welding but it should come out much better. 😆 Definitely blue (universal) electrode sharp to a sharp tip. Balance at 30, gas at 8 liters and above all change the cup to no. 5, this one is definitely too big for aluminum. Current around 120A, gas before 0.5s, gas after 7s. And don't do it so close to the gate/air vent/fan. If the handle gets very hot check the connections or replace it with something of better quality, the ground terminal normally hardly heats up. Make sure you use a torch no. 17 or larger, no. 9 is not suitable for such currents especially in AC and when it overheats strange things start to happen. Don't be influenced by how steel is welded because with aluminum it's a different story when it comes to torches and settings.
@Zukgod1Ай бұрын
This is great advice right here!
@adamfournier6735Ай бұрын
I like to run high amps, and back it off with the pedal as heat gets into the part. For 1/8" thick, I'll run 200-220 amps so I can quickly get a good puddle started, and use the pedal to back off as I'm welding. Set the AC balance slightly biased towards penetration (electrode negative) side, and use a small cup (#5 or #6). The blue (2% Lanthanated) tungstens work WAY better than the green pure tungsten: they will hold their point instead of balling, and give you a more consistent arc cone. Aluminum conducts heat really well, which means heat is trying to leave the weld zone quickly. Hot arc and move fast to minimize the heat lost.
@tigxxlАй бұрын
I agree that welding is faster at such a high current of 220 amperes (3.2 mm electrode required), but then you need to have a lot of skill (at 120 a you have a little more time on 3 mm material to operate the weld pool, and it is not stainless steel and you don't have to worry about the heat ), a powerful welder (mine is only 230a, like many others, including the model with a video) and, above all, a liquid-cooled torch, which not everyone has access to. In my earlier statement, I referred specifically to its configuration.
@erickvond6825Ай бұрын
You guys might want to consider putting a snatch block on the boom and anchoring the line back to the headache rack. It's going to be a bit slower but you'll have much better lifting power.

The length of the build helps your “people” who view each week. An ongoing disaster or some new disaster, what’s the dif. Crash and burn is crash and burn. We all love the flames. The Peck Bros are the deans of crash and burn. Long builds just means more flames.
@nathancharnley5932Ай бұрын
Tig aluminum recommendations 120 frequency, about 70 ac balance depending on how clean the material is sharpen tungsten and use red,gray,blue,or purple tungsten another thing that helps is manually pulsing the peddle. Textbooks say to use pure tungsten with a balled end but with an inverter welder that just doesn’t work in my opinion.

Tig welder here the hardest part is settings. I think with a spool gun you might have a little more luck to learn how aluminum works. Another thing is with tig welding aluminum you can’t rush it once it get contaminated grind it out and start over another thing it don’t cross contaminat your wire brush make it only used for aluminum also never use a flapper wheel on aluminum the flap material break apart and gets in the metal other than that it’s 40% practice 60% settings and pulse
@johnchant461Ай бұрын
