Why not scalp the top of that rear crossmember and cap weld a new top that’s shorter and not need to cut the tub?

Cross member is beginner fab shop. You welded it. Grinded it. Textured it. Next step would have been fish plating the seams you welded/grinded. . Great job.🤘🏼

There’s a handful of brands that make crossmembers exactly like that. Could have bought one of theirs or at least taken measurements off them. RPM steering and Hepta MFG to name 2.

what about the previous manual trans was causing you to break parts?

With a manual trans there is no slip in the drivetrain like a torque converter does for an automatic. Its direct drive so I was breaking front axle shafts constantly.

Remake it in dom 120 wall tube it will take some of the space out that you need, or make a bolt in middle ans keep it striaght across allowing the drop out service
