Thank you for your honest and unbiased in-depth testing! The DC output has me intrigued! 30 amps is perfect for what I need. Interesting fan noise, I don't think it would bother me though. I also would have loved to see the 150v/1200w solar charge controller on this model....but how many people are going to be using that many solar panels in a portable application?
@ronbridegroom84289 күн бұрын
It would be nice to see a 48 volt output as that then could be used as solar input to other solar generators. For example, if you have a main unit for house backup tied into a transfer switch, like the EcoFlow Delta Pro Ultra. If you have extra solar panels that you cannot use with the Ultra you could use it with a solar generator like this then DC to DC charge the Ultra though it's Low Voltage solar port at night. I know, kinda of a weird scenario but I can see cases where this capability would be useful

Hi Jason, great to see a measure of how efficient AC charging is, not the most efficient though. Many people are charging up when prices are low so this is useful info for them. You measured DC at 1845wh over 14h15m = averaging pull of 129 watts. I would expect that to be at least 90% efficient. But what about at the high 350w-400w load how efficient is that? I would be presently surprised if it was still around 90%. I have a feeling it will be less. The DC is after all 48-54vDC to AC then back to 13v DC. The shorter runtime isn't going to save much power (unlike AC) because the DC parasitic draw is so small.Thanks. Your reviews are much better than most on you tube. If a review is worth doing it's worth doing well. 👍 cheers!

Nice review. With the customer service tel number and 3 year warranty they are really stepping up their game. Finally a decent DC capacity with 30 amps and at 90% efficiency I think this is good quality Over all finally a power station that can handle all the off grid situations in automatic mode... plug and play > set it forget it and for a reasonable price. A few minor things like the battery capacity, the fan not an issue and not a deal breaker. Yes You are right. The 1200 W charge controller from the 3600 and this would have been the perfect match to have sufficient off grid capacity for this class. The battery size is enough to get through the night but then next morning You have to have enough solar capacity to run high loads and recharge the battery for the next night. Well, let´s hope they come up with this model. Of course there is the 3600 but it´s just too heavy and not practical in many of my situations. Anyhow that is a lot of power station for the money

@@Jasonoid1200W-150V. I consider that a good size. Give it or take.... that´s somewhere in a range 5 - 8 kWh per day depending on time of the year and location.You add on an extension battery and something like a Honda 2200.with an extension tank. That´s 1800 W continuous and You have a very good system to cover the basics 365 and all plug and play. No skills and tools required. Add on an induction cooktop and a Diesel heater. Now the world looks different. Of course there is bigger but most don´t need more.

Great price! Great 12 DC section! The inverter is okay but pretty inefficient, especially when compared to the 95%+ that Bluetti has achieved in their Elite 200 V2. Where they loose a few points though is only one PDP 3.0 100 watt port where most of the competition has 2 or even supports the PDP3.1 standard of 140 watts (EcoFlow). But that price is killer! Looking forward to their upcoming split phase all in one! Thanks for a great review:D

I wonder what your dirty EMI gadget would read from a Bluetti AC200P. If I place that unit's input side against the metal wall of my truck, the unit fails calibration check on startup...presumably because EMI gets reflected off the wall and into the pickup coils used for measurements.

The whirling fan noise is a big deal for me. It's so loud I can hear it even if I'm in another room, away from the machine. And I'll note that the fan seems to run on about a 30 second cycle, if powering smaller loads, say up to about 200 watts. So, that Pecron Squeal happens about every 30 seconds. I really hate it. Also, I could never use these things as a UPS, for say a home office or anywhere I'd be in close proximity. When plugged into the wall, with or without the inverter turned on, there is a very loud mosquito-like buzz that is just insufferable to me. I'm also on my 4th e1500lfp, all of them have had issues with the unit losing power before getting down to 0%. I've had them stop power at as much as 54%, and anywhere down to 5%. It's not a calibration issue, as I've completed charge/discharge cycles multiple times on every unit. Luckily Pecron has been decent to work with and has so far replaced the machine every time. Still, I'm not satisfied with having to deal with shipping back and forth so many times, waiting so long to receive a usable unit.
@Gravitational2349 күн бұрын
Are you using the e1500 with very small DC loads, eg router for extend periods? Some PS don't measure small loads very well and the SOC gets messed up. You can think you have 50% left and the PS suddenly drops to 0, yet charging back up only takes what 50% would take. Seen it a few times on 1-2kwh ones, even the big brands.

Hmmm...other reviewers of this product achieved >90% AC battery capacity. Otherwise, the only thing that would stop me from buying this product is the solar input limitation. C'mon Pecron, we need 12 - 150V solar inputs. The 12V/30A DC output is awesome.

Yeah, not sure why this one didn't provide more AC capacity. Maybe I should complete two tests and average them out...
@Gravitational23410 күн бұрын
Would actually be good to do a test at say 20% and 80% of the inverter rating to get a better idea of capacity and run time. A few reviewers on you tube just max out the inverter which isn't really a sensible test because very few people will uses a power station from 100% to 0 at 100% power and it's not actually the least efficient like they claim. Very Low power use is always going to be the least efficient.

Very comprehensive review, thanks! A couple percent on the run time more/or less IMO, is negligible (Real world use will vary). Fan noise/inverter noise is not an issue in my use case. But....and there's always a but :P. As you mentioned, the only real possible downside I see to this unit is the 90V solar cap. I would have liked to see this increased to 120-150V. It's a bit of a pain trying to get the voltage setup in series to take full advantage of that 90V cap. As you mentioned, the 3600 has a 150V cap which is perfect. Other than that, I believe the unit hits it target audience.

Given how competitive the market is, and how prices (including per/wh) are dropping, should your grading points be updated to reflect that? Also, did you do 2 or 3 AC discharge tests, to see if maybe there was a temporary issue with cells being out of balance? Maybe after a few cycles you would get more capacity? Stranger things have happened! :)

I am considering reworking my grading system into the 3.0 version. It will be much more strict to follow the latest trends. I'm thinking of the following changes at least: -Pricing below $0.75 / $0.50 cents per wh -140w USBc port requirement -UPS cuttover below 10ms -Fan noise below 50db (this is extremely rare) -heated batteries -high DC output of 180w (instead of 150w). This is not a full list of changes but you have any other recommendations?

@@Jasonoid Each grading sheet version has awesome. Thank you for putting your test results "together"! A thought or two on the future revision: - perhaps some classification of type of unit's use. By this I mean I'm using my Jackery and Ecoflow units for portable home backup. I don't have a need for the "DC 12v" too much versus someone who does have the need for much better "DC 12v" output options. I'd buy a B grade if it was the "DC 12v" difference from an A grade. - the above point and past thoughts get me to wonder many criteria on your grading sheet are core but perhaps some are more like bonus ones that give bonus points to - I get the "DC 12v" needs. Even though I don't have a high need for this, I would like an XT60 output connector vs the cig version or an addition to the cig version. Perhaps upgrading the "DC 12v" output connector could be a new criteria to score. - okay, this is already too long. But, Thanks for your efforts!!

I guess $0.40/Wh is better than the old-days price of $1/Wh for a power station. But now with LFP batteries available under $0.10/Wh, my own answer to the question in your title is neither. The dividing line (mainly in Wh, but also in W for anyone caring more about that, which is generally a mistake) between what I'd use a power station for, and what I'd use a battery and personally-chosen components for, is smaller than either of these. Somewhere in the 300-1000Wh range. I can see how for some people, the dividing line would be at a larger size than for me. I just think that people who don't even consider having a dividing line where they shift gears to a component system, and are using a power station for everything from phone charging to home power backup, are at least throwing away money, and probably also getting a compromised solution which will be obsolete long before the batteries die. A boom box is only the ideal solution up to a certain size, where you really should go to using stereo components, whether you're able to choose them yourself (maybe by copying other people) or need to have someone design you a system.
