electro-harmonix says: "An expressive modulated filter" - i say: "An extreme feedback exploder" - in a tightly controlled feedback loop (you have to push just enough through, any more and it collapses into a square wave), this thing is an instant ticket to gruesome, unrelenting, screeching textures.
patching tip: as well as sending the Blurst! back out to itself, send your synth (or any instrument) to it at the same time. periods of silence between notes will be replaced with unruly, guttural howling and any upper harmonics of your tone will develop a serrated, rocky edge. i use this effect constantly in my work under the alias "rq laji-2"
a series of unscripted videos i've wanted to do for a while in which i dive into a single pedal's capabilities regarding feedback, as pedal overviews/reviews/etc aren't ever really concerned about showing that off (understandably so). pedal feedback is a big part of a lot of my sound design process, so i figure it would be a useful resource.
