Watching this has really helped me figure out HOW to tune up my sound and pedal board. I love experimental sounds with the Earthquaker pedals (like the Rainbow Machine, Arpanoid, Data Corrupter) - the weirder the better. But I've not spent enough time thinking about the tone development, love to see how you are achieving your tone. I'm (re)inspired!

You sir have solidified my decision on buying an Electric Violin. I've played guitar for a few years but I just didn't feel my heart in it. I'm going to be a complete beginner on the Violin, but if I can play like this, I will put my all into it!

@aresd26485 жыл бұрын
You can play "like this".. if you put another 2k down for pedals lol. The pitchfork alone is around 150 USD, the cheapest looper around 200 USD (Boss RC-30) vs around 450 USD for the do-it-all- Boomerang III he's using. Add a good acousti amp (500-1200 USD) and other pedals and you're set up. lol
@aresd26485 жыл бұрын
Oh you're a beginner. DON'T buy an electric violin to start. No teacher will teach you. And you'll need a teacher. It's not like a guitar.
@ingridayarza3 жыл бұрын
@@aresd2648 I know it's a super late reply, but... Yeah, I agree with this, as a Violinist. The violin is a super complex instrument, and you would need to master the techniques in order to produce a good sound, because the first notes you play will sound like trash, and that's completely normal. THEN, after some years, I'd get myself an electric. And you would need to adapt your techniques, also.

Can you maybe give an advise, wether an electric violin, or a classical violin with a good piezo mic or so, combined with pedals sound better?

It is a personal taste. It depends on the pick-up system on the acoustic, Ege. A solid body electric is generally the best for a full pedalboard. Will have less issues with feedback etc, although there are some pick-up/mic combo systems that can work well. Trevor

Hey Trevor, great rundown! I was wondering about your compressor. Do you ever play "cleaner" type violin? How useful do you find compression to be on a clean electric violin? I've got a Tonebone PZ Deluxe preamp I go through, and am thinking about running my violin through compression before that. Do you ever use other compressors?
@TrevorDick5 жыл бұрын
Max, thanks for your comment and for dropping in! I do play a lot of "cleaner" violin and use my compressor all the time. The Diamond is a very transparent compressor and adds warmth and smoothness to my sound. I don't dial it up very high either ... a compressor may be better after your pre-amp. Some pre-amps also have built in compressors, so you should check that. T
