Awesome video, you guys obviously had a lot of fun making this, it was great to watch. It's a shame JMJ was ill, would've been even more immense to have had 3 of my favourite bassists in one video!!

For a momentary click-in-and-out effect, you can get an Electro Harmonix Chill Switch and run the octave through the loop of that pedal, so the octave would only turn on when you have the switch pressed down, and it would stop when you release

Herbie Flowers was the name of the bass player who played on a lot of Serge Gainsbourg stuff. I believe he used a jazz bass with tapewounds to get that great pick tone!

Yes, and of course Bowie worked with Herbie Flowers on Space Oddity, Walk on the Wild Side, etc.

Funny… to me, for what it’s worth, in the minutes leading up to Lefebvre saying it himself, I was thinking that dead flat wounds and pick 100% reminds of the bass on Gainsbourg’s Histoire de Melody Nelson. Cool album everyone should have in their collection and listen to. That has to be the best reference for style and sound comparison. A guy named David Richmond played bass on that album.

It was not Herbie Flowers on Melody Nelson. Dave Richmond played bass on the record. Along with Alan Parker on guitar and (possibly) Dougie Wright on drums.
