I’m grateful that you also put countries that weren’t added to the game at the time since it makes the video age nicely as new countries are added.

Good stuff. Ive been looking at some pedestrian crossing signs here in southern norway and theres a large variety of 4/5 stripes, and the man looks different on each one, different shape, hat/no hat etc. For some other countries they are much more uniform it seems. Very useful stuff.
@HarrierGeoGuessr
@HarrierGeoGuessr 3 жыл бұрын
Cheers Llewk! Yeah I thought Norway only have 4 zebras before the research began. But yeah that's great to know too. I came across a very weird Pedestrian sign in Madeira, with the normal "high belt" but the person was carrying something in the right hand. Only seen that sign once before. Very unusual that one, but found that by accident once I made the vid!

@@HarrierGeoGuessr The "robot" with no neck on four stripes is the far most common one, and the only one produced after 2006. The "Humphrey Bogart" ones (on both four and five stripes, or even dashes on the oldest ones) are more and more rare.

That is the new pedestrian crossing sign in Finland, from 2020. The streetview coverage in Finland is usually much older than that, so you should've included the older version which also has 5 stripes but with a man similar to the one in Sweden's sign.
@HarrierGeoGuessr
@HarrierGeoGuessr 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this! Yeah, I guess in the long term, there will be more recent footage so the 2020 pedestrian sign will become more relevant. But at least you can separate Sweden and Finland with the stripes. With minor differences, there is bound to be changes to the pedestrian signs over time too, so hopefully this becomes as up to date as possible for the long run. Learnt somet new, thanks :)

Thank you! I did make this video a while back, and from what I've learnt since making the video, is some are either so hard to tell a difference, and for some I found other different types of pedestrian signs (especially in Balkans) which just leads to a mess with overlaps. So thanks for bringing these examples up. And glad you found it useful 😁

I actually noticed that there's a difference in these signs on my own but certainly didn't have them all figured out like this. This is great stuff. It's funny because I have been playing under the assumption that a 3 striped sign in the Baltics could only be Lithuania. I guess that's not right but I think they must be rare in Latvia and Estonia because I haven't been burned yet!
@HarrierGeoGuessr

@@HarrierGeoGuessr This helps a super ton! I have one "maybe" correction because I've been studying this video a lot :) I have only seen the Finnish one as a more human-like outline. I tried to find the one you have here but I haven't yet. I checked in Helsinki, Espoo, and Tampere. Hope this helps.

@@Brutecircuit I think someone else brought this up about the Finnish Pedestrian Crossing Signs in the comments. It's because the one I shared is the 2020 version and generally Finland's coverage is much older, so that may be a good explanation to why it looks different. :)

I am trying to play along with a pedestrian crossing signs map on geoguessr and am finding that a lot of these are inaccurate. For example I had a run where Iceland had the same pedestrian sign as this video says only Sweden should have. Regardless it is a good learning tool.
@HarrierGeoGuessr
@HarrierGeoGuessr Жыл бұрын
That is very odd for Iceland, have not come across that before. Also, that must be not on streetview. If it is, please share. And yeah, video is quite outdated in some areas, and was very early doors for me in the community when this was made. Luckily now, there is a lot more research out there to help you ID countries quicker, and at times, easier.
@HarrierGeoGuessr
@HarrierGeoGuessr Жыл бұрын
There's bound to be some anomalies when it comes to pedestrian signs. But most of this should be accurate in most instances. The only one that I found out to be just wrong is Ukraine and Russia's. They are the same, just vary mannequins slightly within their countries. And ofc, take Balkans and Slovakia with a pinch of salt.
