HI EVERYONE TODAY'S CHAOTIC VIDEO IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY PEDIATRICS PLS ENJOYYY. As my final rotation of M3 year you can probably tell I'm pretty burnt out but I was able to see some really incredible patients, I'll explain more in the video! At the end I go into how my expectations compared to reality plus some misc afterthoughts and how I studied for the shelf exam + what I would do differently knowing what I know now - enjoy! :)
P.S. it was super cloudy when I filmed this so if it looks weird/dark compared to my other videos that's why

You said POTS showed up several times. I’m curious how POTS shows up in Peds and how young the patients are? How do you diagnose it and what is the treatment protocol? I can’t wait to hear about your integrative med rotation. ❤

Great question! The patients I saw with POTS on peds were in their late teens and it showed up as severe fatigue and blood pressure lability leading to syncopal episodes for the most part. I'm not sure if the patients I saw were representative of how POTS shows up in the majority of peds patients or if they were outliers, but management for those that I saw was actually just better hydration/avoiding dehydration and moderately increasing salt intake. Unfortunately there's no curative treatment (as far as i know lol) so it's mostly about managing symptoms.
