I have a question that I’m hoping you could help me with… At my job we have two different protocols we use. (Soft tissue neck-what you described, or just soft tissue- a few images in sag and trans in the area of interest) if someone is coming in for a “lump” on the left or right side of the neck, which protocol would you say is best? Our soft tissue neck protocol is for lymphadenopathy or previous thyroid surgery, so I feel like that wouldn’t apply. I’m having a bit of confusion on which one to follow for this type of visit.

Depends on where the lump is. If it’s in the neck (one of the levels) we do the full neck. If it is the scalp or the cheek, eyebrow etc we do only the area and compare to the normal side.

@@SonographicTendenciesOne last question. Would I scan both sides or only the side which the lump is on?
