You have to remember Nelson was a lot older than all these club kids. They were all spaced out on something whereas Nelson was completely tee total and just people watching with his camera. I loved the Nelson videos it's such a valuable insight to this era so big thanks to Dick RIP for restoring these. Michael feels more for Nelson than he's letting on, you can tell it was a special nurturing time for him when he felt so young and naive at this time. Nelson was a father figure anchor, I cant believe he was a sleaze or trying to hit on the club kids.. I kind of wish Michael hung out more with Ru as he was switched on and stable and forged a beautiful career.
@edeneverly25735 жыл бұрын
Nelson smoked a lot of pot, hon. And he did Ecstasy sometimes. Not nearly as blitzed as Alig and the addicts. And I don’t think he hung with the younger Alig folks all that much. He was with the older established artists like Sylvia, Musto, Brant, Bunny and then he became close to RuPaul. That group was older(except RP) and ran parallel to the younger club kids. But more so really the big players in the art/fashion/film/music scene. He recognized Michael Alig and the kids as the new big thing and so of course became social and filmed their club and drag culture. But I think you overestimate the relationship between Alig and Nelson. And to act like Nelson wasn’t high is just kind of funny. He partook of the weed quite a bit. He just wasn’t a full out drug abuser like the club kids, which is why Nelson’s close clan went in one direction and Michael Alig ended up where he went.
@BreakerOneNine074 жыл бұрын
@@edeneverly2573 Exactly! If you watch the Christmas party video, Nelson talks about how he ate some ecstasy the night before and he had some of Michael's ecstasy chocolate that night of the Christmas party. You can really see how things are falling apart in your friendship here Whats odd is that nostalgia is the only reason you were able to do what you did Ernie, because Michael could never really recover after he did what he did was incarcerated for so long, he never knew how else to be The documentary stitch up Glory Daze where they hot mic him and James making jokes about Angel's body was so evil, it was dark humour, i am all for that kind of humour, but it really just wasnt in the same realm as that, it showed a lot, he seem to be able to flick between supposed remorse and then these inappropriate shallow flippant jokes depending on the company It only really ever seemed that he was only really devastated by everything he lost His behaviour on the talk shows and the increasing depravity of the party themes were huge give aways to this and I genuinely believe we see more the real him when he was with James than when was is with you He was just able to shape into what you wanted him to be for all the time he manipulated you, but just couldnt keep up the facade forever If he had have been able achieve come huge comeback success with all his endeavours, then I genuinely fear things would have gone the same way We had a mini revival in East London around 2012/13 of the NYC club kid scene, even Larry Tee was around here for that period and it was very much an echo of what i see in the 5th ave videos and all the stories and documentaries, i had to leave after about a year as i became heavily involved and it started to destroy my mind, because for all the pretty colours and costumes, the minute it becomes vacuous hedonism, it becomes and empty existence

Nelson had a thing with Trade? Why am i not surprised lol.
@suzied42702 жыл бұрын
Michael is a liar. He always said Nelson was appropriate and a mentor to them. Now he's saying he thinks he'd try to sleep with him. Nah Nelson seen right through him. He even said it in a video. That's why Ernie was like "what? 🥴

He talks like he hardly knew Nelson, but if you watch the DC bus trip, Ernie acts like he's known Nelson a long time.

@@ThePeeew Okay, you got me. But the deal is you guys are presumably in your 50's and you still live your lives like you're stuck in the late 80's. It's not your age, it's your immaturity that's embarrassing to me. But you do you.

Kenia Downing nothing wrong with that, you must still be quite young, it was a much different time & I miss it too!

@@shannontiffany4525 I'm 31. It was a much different time, and these guys, one of whom murdered someone, don't seem to realize that they are no longer in that time. Personal opinion, I don't think it looks respectable to cavort around acting like you're still 21 when you're in your 50's.

Why every time Michael tells a story like this one, i get the feeling that he always had to pretend being gay in order to get that golden ticket into a night life, that could explain everything actually , I have so many gay friends and people in my closest circle are gay, I just don’t see that in him, he’s definitely a gay by choice if so

I have plenty of friends that you would never know were gay unless they told you. Don't make assumptions about someone's sexuality.
