I'm coming back to this almost a year after it was uploaded and woah! I've actually found myself nostalgic for the beginning of all of this. Not the horrors, the deaths and the suffering of course, but I saw so many acts of kindness, so much love and a "we're all in this together" collective feeling.

I have to thank you for this tutorial. I made this bag today and was super intimidated by a few of the techniques but your video was so easy to follow. I made a few mistakes, thank goodness I used scrap fabric. My machine really doesn't like sewing through heavy layers. And I got real acquainted with my seem ripper, but I got it done. I'm late to the party making this pouch. Have been on a quest for the "perfect" make-up pouch but I digress.I heard you mention how difficult it was to sew the very shiny vinyl. I have had the same problem too; until... Sewer's Aid. It's a nonstaining lubricant. You add it straight on the vinyl & a little goes a long way. I saw the lady from K.Azcona Designs use it on her heartbreaker bag, so I thought hey Ill try it. I love it. I get nice even stitches topstitching on very shiny vinyl and my Bernina #54 teflon foot has no issues gliding over the vinyl. Love your videos! Take care🧵👛

I'm a long armer and have a bunch of 'practice' quilted pieces. I bought this pattern last year with the intention of cutting some if them for the center portions, then totally forgot about it! I've seen a similar zipper treatment, but those instructions didn't prep the 90 angle first. They did it as they installed the zipper, which was awkward. Your method looks lots easier. Wanted to share...Been practicing sewing on clear vinyl making project pockets before I make this bag with the vinyl sides. I use sandwich wrap paper from Smart and Final for appliqué sewing which was recommended by someone in my sewing class. Tried it on vinyl and it ROCKS! I lay in against the vinyl paper side down on machine bad. Sew on other side using silicone foot. It glides.... and the sandwich paper in budget friendly rather the parchment paper and not as fragile as tissue paper. I bought 12x15, 1000 sheets. I think I have plenty.

Hi Jess! Thanks for another great tutorial...love your upbeat perspective. You showed a quilted front panel version in the Peek-a-Boo Bag and I just loved it. What width strips did you use & did you just use batting of add interfacing (Sf101) to the backside of the quilted batting? The Tula version was also beautiful. I’m trying to do more small quilting projects to build my confidence & that bag just sung to me. Thanks & stay healthy
@OklaRoots4 жыл бұрын
This would be such a good bag to practice a little bit of quilting and a little bit of bag making. My strips were 2.5" wide, and I just randomly sewed them together. Once I had a nice large unit, I pressed it really well, and then adhered SF101 to the panel of strips. I didn't add any sort of batting. Then I used the center panel template and cut out the rectangle. It looks like SO much more work than it actually was.
