It is very dry and sandy, but it was/is formed by flash floods. Be sure to check the weather in any nearby (50 miles or so) uplands. If it rains there - floods will come through the canyon. They can kill you!

Just adding this for anyone who may not have a four wheel drive vehicle to get back to the canyon. My wife and I walked from the parking lot off of 89 and it turned into a 7.5 mile walk (to the canyon and back) in the loosest sand. It was very beautiful in peak a boo canyon and all, just putting this out there because based on reviews we thought it was a mile or so to the canyon.
@DaveOnArrival5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's way more than a mile. I hope you and your wife packed enough water to stay hydrated.

From what I understand, there is a secondary trail head that non 4 wheel drive vehicles can access. Then hike through the sand to this trail head.

@cindybarton91302 жыл бұрын
We were there several years ago and bore the deep sand, but made it just fine. Short, but interesting. There were some small holes carved in the wall that showed up in these pics and not commented on so maybe you didn't notice them. Somehow poles were attached into them by the Indians that led up to some grain storage high up on the rock.
@DaveOnArrival2 жыл бұрын
I was not aware of that fact. Wow

This slot canyon is not to be confused with the Peek-a-Boo Slot Canyon/Spooky Gulch that is near Escalante, Utah. Both are free, but the road to the Peek-a-boo with Spooky Gulch doesn't have deep sand and the slots are much narrower. There appears to be more color in the walls of Kanab's Peek-a-boo.
@thecaptain69949 ай бұрын
Were you able to drive all the way to the entrance of Picaboo Slot Canyon or was there some hiking involved to get there? Thanks!
@DaveOnArrival9 ай бұрын
We drove all the way to the entrance.
@patmckenney89312 жыл бұрын
I think you missed the Peek a Boo Canyon itself. This looks like the one you come to first before you get to peek a boo. Spooky and Peek a Boo are more challenging and much longer. However, you did a nice job putting together this video.
@onebrilliantgirl Жыл бұрын
There are two different slot canyons named Peek a Boo in Utah. The slots canyons you are referring to, Peek A Boo and Spooky are located outside of Escalante and are harder to get to. That is true. The canyon featured in this video is indeed in Kanab and has been reported accurately.
@rangeandravine5 жыл бұрын
Not you be confused with Peek a Boo canyon in Escalante, Utah down Hole in the Rock road, which sees much more traffic.
@DaveOnArrival5 жыл бұрын
Yes, absolutely. This is not the Escalante Peek-a-boo canyon.

Total awesome Dave like always my young friend. So beautiful and peaceful. Did you do any night Filming of the sky in the dark sky areas? Would love to see the footage if so. Maybe you could show this type of video, while telling any story's of your travels that didn't get into videos, like what keep you going, what moves you. Thank you for sharing your life. Take care.

@tammy brooke just wondering if u made it up this trail in your rav4 with awd. I will be here in a few days with my jeep renegade trailhawk. If I have to I might just hike in from the parking lot.

@@DaveOnArrival Yes, it was exhausting (sunny and 80 degrees). A few people stopped along the way and asked if everything was ok and if I had enough water with me. On the way back I was picked up 1km from the parking lot.

Hi! thank you for this video and amaaazig spot! We are about to go to Kanab and I am trying to figure out how far this spot from Kanab is and how to find it, maybe you could give some advice how to find it! thanks again :) all the best

It's about 10 miles north of the city. Best thing to do is get a map from the Kanab Visitor's Center
@headlessspaceman56813 жыл бұрын
Your own private slot canyon. That you put on a youtube channel. I hope nobody else ever goes there expecting to have solace or solitude. This is where frat guys get in fist fights because they're going the wrong way down the slot and there's no room to pass each other. True story.
@magicalunicorn58533 жыл бұрын
How long did the whole trip in the canyon take you? What time did you go?

You can walk to the end of the canyon and back in 1 hour. We went early morning

Hey do you have the coordinates for this location?? Would this be the one they offer in Kanab as a tour???
@DaveOnArrival3 жыл бұрын
I don't have the coordinates. If there is a tour out of Kanab for peek-a-boo canyon it is most likely for this one.
@lifeshouldbeinteresting5 жыл бұрын
How much time would you recommend here? Like from the time we park at dry fork trailhead, how much total time do we need?
@DaveOnArrival5 жыл бұрын
You're talking about the Peekaboo canyon near Escalante. This is the one near Kanab. I haven't been to dry fork trailhead so I can't tell you how much time you'll need.
@lifeshouldbeinteresting5 жыл бұрын
@@DaveOnArrival I see that now. Actually, I think we may want to also stop at the one you were at near Kanab as well. To get to that, must we hike from Red Canyon Slot trailhead just off of highway 89 or can we drive (with an awd vehicle) back closer to the slot?
@DaveOnArrival5 жыл бұрын
It would be a long and tiring hike from the highway. If your AWD can handle deep sand you should try to park close to the canyon entrance
@irinalitvinova22594 жыл бұрын
Hi, awesome video, so you didn't get a guide or a permit to go in there? how many hours did it take you to hike the peakaboo canyon? some people say its 4 hours.
@DaveOnArrival4 жыл бұрын
No guide or permit needed. The canyon is a pretty short hike and can be done in under an hour unless you're hiking from the road. Maybe they were talking about the peekaboo canyon near Escalante that takes 4 hours?

I'm forced to say that I was quite disappointed with this "peekaboo " slot that I visited 11/2021. I've been in many other slot canyons and didn't feel the time to drive down and back up was with the effort. Very short and when I was there it was populated with tour guide people. But your experience was different. Sorry to be negative about it but that's my two cents worth
