Impressive troubleshooting! No schematic is like defacto standard these days, but it seems like you didn't even have the pinout for the edge connector and still found the issue super quick! That's a good tip to check everything in diode mode to ground!

PeePaw is a genuine engineer. And I’m glad that I also do this diode test method to find short,open or erratic conditions in circuit boards if I can’t find schematic diagrams of any particular circuit. I have repaired lot of circuit boards by this diode test method.
