Impressive! Almost gives me the courage to open up at least one of my two trans. Transax transplant I have a 30 y.o. Murray 11/36ic that was increasingly difficult to change gear. I acquired another transaxle 10 years ago, and seeing it has 10 years less use than my one so it must be in good or better condition...right? Put it on, and now the mower won't move forward or back. I see the drive belt is turning the rear pulley on the transax. I lift the back up to see if there is the slightest movement and there is nada. 😑 Any ideas anyone...

I was really good at rebuilding the fuller RTO 9513 trans and I really enjoyed it 😊, now diesel mechanics don’t rebuild them just exchange is all, they need the skills 😢😢😢

I drilled two 1/4 inch drain holes on the pulley, will help with the rusting problem and buy some time 😮

Plus you can use a puller to remove pulley

Very good video, thank you. Didn't look like there was sealant around the periphery of the case, isn't that usually needed? Btw, i like working in scrubs as well!

Question, is there a filling plug? As you explain the mechanisms there seems to be a filling plug on one of those trans plates. Is on the top or the bottom?

Just scored a rider from dump with a Peerless MST 206 502A and it only has 1st n reverse... you can shift 1 2 3 and still in 1st then if 4 5 6 nothing.. reverse is faster... been mowing in 1st to get yard done as my other mower is down due to deck issues.. I had hoped the dump score would be better, but new tires, good seat, runs mint guess can toss a wrench at it...

I was about to say haven't seen one I couldn't just pull off by hand... spring for brake fighting with, perhaps could have dropped axle connected and spun it out, then when put back in fish it in before aligning to brackets..

Craig, took me a little to respond because i had to look at videos cause cant remember anything..lol. I would check all the shift mechanism first to make sure it is moving the gear selector shaft its full rotation. If it is, problem is in transsxle and prolly the fork on shift rod moving on shaft or something with the slide mechanism.

@@vatolocal2564 Assuming shift forks, just cannot find this axle to know which forks to buy. Found a chart to compare style and length as there appears to be 8 or more options, just wanted to have on hand before tore apart so could just slap back together if only the forks. The axle was way low on fluid, if it even had any, and think they were damaged, or previous owners shifted without clutch.. thanks.. will just have to open up... got 4th now at least, been mowing in 4th, reverse is every once in a while.. hopefully do not need gears, as cannot find parts, just used assemblies for top dollar.

I buy the bulk multi size containers from Harbor Freight and hope they fit. Ive been known to modify things to fit the application :)
