Both this kid and Jimi have great voices. Where he fall shorts and what places Jimi in a world his own is how Jimi makes you feel and believe each word in the songs he sang. I appreciate and respect this kid for his talent but Jimi was so special and moved many hearts and souls as we grew through the 80s. Truely missed

The good old days of survivor are over. The voice of Jim fills every survivor song. He has sing with heart.
@rob0527713 жыл бұрын
The issue is not that "the kid" can't sing, he is quite good, but Jamie had a talent of being able to sing with an incredibly emotive quality so that you actually felt the words of the song....It's like when Peter Cetera left Chicago or Steve Perry left Journey...yes these guys can sing, but it is not as emotive as the original singer....

But then you would say he was emulating Jimi… he was hired for a reason
@steveparker54067 ай бұрын
There’s simply singing a song versus being “inside” a song where the stakes are high and personal and that feeling is conveyed in the tone. Very few singers can effectively pull that off…Jamison, Mercury, Stewart and Perry are a few who can do that with conviction.

Frankie wanted to revive the Jimi that joined Survivor! I see that this boy has the same length and color hair as Jimi when he joined Survivor! He is also handsome, just like Jimi was, but I am sorry to tell Frankie that he will never have another Jimi. He was one of a kind.

Jimi isn’t here anymore. And he will not be forgotten. But this guy is a great singer!! If this we’re to be a new, starting out, band we would all be saying how amazing of a frontman this guy is. That’s the reality.

If the kid knew any better he'd steer clear of Frankie and band. Why play with them? Frankie must a nightmare to be in a band with. No way I'd survive without trying to take Frankies head off every night.

There's no power to his voice. I have absolutely nothing against getting a young guy. But Bickler and Jamison had power. Even if they lost range in later life, both still have much more power than this guy.

I was pissed when I saw this video and this new singer. I had no idea this band was still doing their thing. This singer wasn't even born when this song came out. Then, I heard him sing, and I closed my eyes thinking about the 3-times I saw Survivor in the 1980s LIVE, and I smiled, and I said to myself; I can't go back, but for now, this will do! Good job kid, those are some huge shoes to fill!. RIP JIMI!

I think we all have to overcome the trauma of Jimi's sudden passing, and move on to give the new brave kid more encouragement. Everyone is one of a kind. Jimi's taking an immortal place in our heart doesn't mean we can't like another vocalist, talented in other way.

He made Jimi's life a living hell for years Constantly slapping him with lawsuits over use of song rights (For Jimis solo performances.) He was the one on the night of the very "final concert in Califoria, that turned the night into hell. Jimi complained "before" the show, that his face and arms were numb (All signs of a stroke, which he succumbed to a few hours later.) He didn't feel well and wanted to cancel the concert Frankie Sullivan demanded that he go out on stage and perform the show. He threatened to sue Jimi, if he didn't do the concert! We all know the rest of the fateful night. The band should have gotten him medical attention, instead of trying to force him to perform with a lawsuit!l Jimi absolutely "hated" Frankie Sullivan! I was great friends with Jimi, and stil with his family.

The singer definitely has a voice/range. He’s young, give him time. He’s still new at this. It will all fall in place within time. Jami would want this band to continue on with out him. Keep in mind a singer can always be replaced, not their music. As long as they stick to his legacy, they will sell shows. For what it’s worth......I’m sure Jami is smiling down on these guy’s for continuing where he left off. They’re all Survivors!

The singer didn't really know what to do with himself just yet but he was young. That can be learned. This caught fire nicely and the singer sounded pretty good.
@lifeisajourney57895 жыл бұрын
Peterik had the right vision for survivor and Jamison was the expressive singer with an outstanding voice. When a band looses such 2 important members there is only one solution (MHO): To end up the band to honour their past. Nowadays there are only the survivor-logo and JS left. Far too less to keep the old spirit alive. For me, this band-version is a joke that will never come near to the old days....
@briandavis28852 жыл бұрын
It lost more than two members. The only guy from their 80s lineup is Frankie Sullivan. Marc Droubay left in 1988 I think. Stephan Ellis left in 1987 due to illness, Jimi and Jim left because Frankie is a douche.

The kid sounds great. He's on pitch and paying a great tribute to Jimi's legacy. Singing and Performing are two totally different things. At one point the guitarist gets the singer to come out front and interact with the crowd. That's just a lack of stage experience and comes over time after doing show after show. The guitar player looks like he's still doing blow like it's 1982.

Maybe we will accept that Survivor band transfers to more like Chicago band style. The kid has his own unique great voice. He 's just a kid , normal to perform like a kid, even like an idol singer. Give him more time. Life experiences will make him perform more naturally, I believe. Allow the kid walk his own way. Maybe let him get some interviews, tell his own stories. Tell everyone why and how he likes Survivor and how m any efforts he has put to perform Survivor on stage. The more we get to know a man , the better we'll like him

I think Jimi Jamison would think the world of Cameron Barton. He's holding his own here. You can't ask a singer to be somebody else, and to his credit he's not trying to. All you can ask is be on pitch, and have your "instrument" ready, including getting into the performance. He's done that, and I think he's done it well!
