tbf phil loved to swan around like the big man making countless death threats he even offered to kill Frank for her after his affair came out so for Peggy to actually after all these years see someone who hurt their family so badly that she feels she needs phil to finally make good on all his talk. only for him to turn around and refuse and make a load of excuses just kinda exposes him as a bit of a brat who wants the perks of people thinking he's some criminal who could kill someone but when it comes time when his family actually needs him to do the dirty work. he chickens out. and makes excuses under normal circumstances I'd say a mother disowning her son for not committing a murder for her is pretty heartless but in this specific case with phil its perfectly understandable when you think about how he'd behaved for years up to this point.

Phil has done some pretty sick and twisted things in his time and he’s a violent, cruel-hearted bully who loves picking on people weaker than him but he’s definitely no killer and he never will be. Given his status as a character and role in the show it wouldn’t make sense for EE writers to make him a killer anyway.

@@gravy180rs it would make perfect sense since they want him to be this big gangster who we're meant to take seriously when he threatens to kill people. so him being an actual murderer would make his character less cringe as he would actually have earned this ruthless reputation he seems to have and besides other characters who were in the show a while have been made into murderers just look at Stacey who actually has more bottle than Phil does lol.

The scene where Peggy disowned Phil. I get why. She'd had up to here with Phil's behaviour and couldn't take how disrespectful to her he was. How could you disrespect your mother like that Phil. But she did the honest thing and disowned him until he learned valuable life lessons about disrespect,honour of the Mitchell family name, stop taking illegal drugs and stop drinking and causing trouble and fights with innocent Albert Square Walford locals for no reason for it. Good for you Peggy. Good on you girl. You had to. You had no choice but to disown Phil until learns to apologize for his outburst behaviours etc. You did the best you ever could for Phil Peggy and now he'll know exactly why his mother had to disown him the way she did.
