Absolutely beautiful. Sad but true. And she sings it with so much compassion in her voice. I was adopted from Bessboro mother and baby home so this song is close to my heart now. My birth mother came from Listowel, Co Kerry. Sadly, she died before I got a chance to meet her. Xxx

This song is so poignant and so sad for what happened to a girl when the lack of mercy was not there for her. Very beautifully sung by Peggy Sweeney !

So sad. An incredibly well composed song. We may have been a Catholic country but far from a Christian one!

This sad ballad written by Sean with the depth of feeling that the words engender is so poignant and heart breaking . I had earlier to day 29th Dec 2018 listened to a documentary on Radio 1 featuring the back story and the play by Tony Guerin (Solo Run) featuring Ton's father and the part he played in those sad events in 1946 In Listowel. It is a stark reminder of how things used be and how they must never be allowed to re occur. Well done to Tony Guerin and Brian Keane for bringing the story to us, and for that colossus of a man ,John Guerin who had the guts, temerity and determination to challenge the Church and their tyranny .

How could anyone who describes themselves as a Christian possibly think that the actions taken by the Church and hospital authorities were right ?

Thanks so much. Just listened to a documentary on this story. We cannot forget the evil crimes that were committed in the name of religion.

@Midnight Dreary The Church gave the daughter a job as a laundress at the cleaners, but the chattering classes spin it as another violation, even though nobody else stepped in to support her or employ her. The people dump their problems onto the church and then complain that things aren't done as well as they should be.
