PEGIDA anti-Islam protests gain more support in Germany

Two months ago when the PEGIDA movement formed in Germany it had only a few hundred followers.
The name is an acronym in German, standing for 'Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamisation of the West'.
More and more people in the eastern city of Dresden have flocked to join Monday rallies. Just before Christmas they numbered more than 17,000.
Pegida founder Lutz Bachmann has attracted support from some on the far-right as well as ordinary Germans alarmed by a rise in refugee arrivals.

FINALLY someone woke up. I'm not against immigration, on the contrary - nearly almost every country is built up on immigration, but it has to be done right. People coming to your country should RESPECT and adopt YOUR culture if they wish to fully integrate. It's that simple. If they don't wish to integrate, kick them back to their respective countries. Canada, US, Australia, etc. are perfect examples of places built up on immigrants BUT highly-educated, hard-working immigrants who wish to integrate into the society and not just abuse the social system. The same simply can't be observed with the refugees and all the Muslim immigrants you see nearly EVERYWHERE in Europe.

Many European countries are committing a cultural and economical suicide by not having open and honest discussion about immigration policies. I am from the US and I support PEGIDA. We dont have as bad of a Muslim influx as you have over there....yet. But I see it more and more every year. They stand out like sore thumbs. Unlike my ancestors they don't try and assimilate. Not all, but most are rude, smelly, and untrustworthy.

It is not only about muslim immigration. Poor Pegida-People, they lost confidence in our democratic system and their ability to take influence. They feel abandoned and are driven by the personal fear of social decline. Well, but blaming this on minorities is unacceptable. And sharing the road of demonstration with right wing neonazi people who register and organise these walks is a shame too! Fortunately Pegida does not represent "the silent majority" of Germany, as numerous counter protests show. Pegida is mainly concentrated on the saxon city of Dresden and assemblies ca. 18 000 people currently. In other cities their support is only some hundred people strong - and usually right away dominated by right wing people, unlike in Dresden. Therefore counter demonstrations are much, much larger. Before Christmas, 300 Pegida protesters demonstrated in Bonn, along with 4000 demonstrants going in the streets for tolerance, freedom and hospitality. In Stuttgart, Hamburg, Berlin, Würzburg, Cologne - everywhere some thousand people made signs against Pegida and their poisonous thoughts. In Münster, yesterday, 10 000 people protested against Pegida - despite no local Pegidamovement in sight. This is what makes me proud of my country. Would be sad if Saxons mentally departed from this.. No way to shut the door right away in front of persecuted people, human beings fleeing from war and misery, like the guy interviewed in the video states. Not with out German history! Not with our human responsibility! And - if people call themselves Christians - also not in the name of our belief, which those haters try to instrumentalise against Islam as a whole!
