A transcription of this piece is a fascinating proposition, and this one certainly pays due homage to the orchestral original. Both Debussy and Ravel composed transcriptions, and would have applauded the idea. In fact, Debussy himself composed a transcription of this work for two pianos, and Ravel wrote a version for piano, four hands. Every flutist has to learn this famous solo; why should every player have to wait for an appointment with an orchestra to play the piece? Brava to the harpist, who succeeded at a formidable task.

このフルートのブレスはとても柔らかく、瞑想中の深い呼吸のようであり、はにかむような優しいタンギングには林間を渉る涼風にも似た心地よさを感じる。ハープの音色と音量もフルートとよく調和しており、この曲に大きな包容力と深い陰影を与えている。二人の演奏にはこけおどしの派手さやその場限りの激情はない。だから聴けば聴くほど魅力が増し、何度も繰り返し聴きたくなる。まさに千載一遇の珠玉の名演奏だ。 　この曲はフランス人作曲家の手で生み出されたものであるから、当然このフルートも西洋的な技法と理論で演奏されているはずだ。しかしこの演奏には、おそらく作曲者も想定していなかったであろう幽玄で東洋的な世界　――あたかも水墨画のような――　が広がっており、さらに言えば、あらゆるものに生命が宿る石庭の静けさすら存在している。もしも半獣神がこの演奏を聴いたなら、官能的な夢よりももっと魅力的な奥深い精神世界に気付き、水の精を口説くことなどすっかり忘れてしまうに違いない。

They can both can and can't, from an orchestration point of view the timbre is not even similar, but from a functional point of view they are in fact doing a great job portraying what's going on in the orchestra, props to the arranger, he/she did an amazing job.

Ayant toujours été réservé sur l orchestration de Debussy , cette version ne peut que me plaire , mais je suis davantage sonorement convaincu par celle avec piano. Je pressens que ma version idéale serait un quintette.
