I can think of few series other than Metal Gear where if you know the "trick" to bosses they're pretty average difficulty, but if you don't they're fucking balls hard. Edit: I realized that your comment was probably in reference to the number and length of cutscenes, but that too. lmao

I love how Raiden goes: "I'll decide who I am for myself! I'm not a weapon!" only to later in Revengeance realize "Wait, I actually love this shit. Jack is back! Let 'er rip!" I'm not sure if it's an amazing character arc or a weird back and forth, but it sure ends up with an interesting character. It is a little weird that he was okay going by the name "Raiden" and "Jack" after hearing the meaning behind those names, but I guess it would've been close to impossible to get anyone to call him something else after an entire game of it being his name. Thank you for the continued effort Peko Mains. These videos continue to be the top tier Hololive fan content. Looking forward to the future.

I guess its due to his gullible nature he keeps swayin back and forth between his true belief. He believes in what Snake's said to him in MGS2 ending, but took his words to a T he didn't really had any freedom of his own. He only take Snake's own beliefs in a lateral sense rather than following his advice to find his own idea. And I think he suffers due to this. Since he clearly wasn't born and raised the way Snake did under Big Boss & Miller wings where their idea of a true soldier are freedom to choose your own fight and let no one, especially the government, used them as a mear tools to disposed of when they became useless. Raiden on the other hand, always meant to be a weapon, *not even a soldier.* His childhood were nothing but being controlled by Solidus, and his adulthood by Patriot. He never know true freedom. Even after Snake's speech, I doubt him truly understand what it means to "choose your own path". In MGS4 he started to doubt whether or not it was the right thing to follow Snake own ideal, hence relapse to his childhood trauma and coming back to fight. And helping his old mentor and friends along the way of course. In MGR he kept being told that he's The Ripper by Desperado Members (Sam & Monsoon most notably), he adamantly refuse to acknowledge it despite being apparent it was the only thing he knows for real and he never really tried to get back to normal society. Resonates "Rose" quote ironically. He truly realized through Armstrong's speech, he keep being told of what to do and never actually tried to find his own fight. And in the ending, he finally found one of his own. Ironically mirroring the whole MGS2 Snake speech all over again.

@@komi-samabeliever7319 Seeing it spelled out like that, Raiden's shifting attitudes over the games make so much sense. The entirety of the series for him was a search to try and find out what he even wanted to do with his life after spending most of it as a disposable tool. Just another aspect that makes me love this series so much. Thanks for typing out such a comprehensive breakdown. It was very helpful since I don't have perfect memory.
@komi-samabeliever73192 жыл бұрын
@@Rautakello don't worry about it man, MGS are my absolute favorite series ever. Its quite poetic really. Raised as a weapon, once freed always be a weapon. At first he was nothing more than a tool for somebody else, but once he has liberty of his own he ironically decided to become a weapon at his own free will and quite enjoyed it it seems. He always be an embodiment of some veteran that just couldn't help but going back to fight since that's all they knew. Pretty much everyone in the saga really. The Snakes, The Boss, Ocelot and of course Raiden. All of them had the same fate just with different endings.
@TheSimmr0012 жыл бұрын
its a bit like the ending to Antz "And, you know, I finally feel like I found my place, and you know what? It's right back where I started. But the difference is, this time I chose it."
@NumbingDisasterAnon Жыл бұрын
It's a bit realistic in a way. When people try to change something about themselves, relapse is a matter of "when" and not "if", people will stumble backwards and it's up to them to claw their way back forward. The exasperation of being the front lines of wars, continuing to being manipulated, reliving past traumas, gaining new traumas, and having old friends die violently around you just further compounds the ebb and flow of relapse and recovery

I have to say, while I do actually think that the English dubs for Metal Gear are good, my personal bias for the Japanese dubs of things is still pretty strong.
