If anybody here hasn't sniffed out the details yet; It's a 1-3 player co op roguelike. You choose a "Hero" or "Class" (dunno what they will call it) that has it's own abilities and special attacks centered around different roles. You drop in BR style and land wherever you want to start. You run around looting and leveling for 30 minutes as the ring closes in on an unspecified location. The goal is to survive and loot for 3 days to then defeat a big final boss that is located where ever the ring closes in on. There's field bosses you can try to fight, it sounds like loot will have special passives or modifiers. The director, Junya Ishizaki, says they plan for the map to change. Something like, volcanoes and swamps sprouting up among other "biomes". He also said they want to have the map change and morph as you progress the game's "story" or whatever the meta progression is. I think they said they haven't decided if they are going to do continuous updates, but they are considering it. Junya Ishizaki has been brewing this for a while and pitching it to Miyazaki. Miyazaki likes the idea and told Ishizaki that he should try directing it.

A little backstory about the game. This game basically takes place in a different reality from the Elden Ring game we know. So it’s not exactly a sequel or prequel. It can either be if scenario or simply Ranni’s pocket dimension or something. Either way, it is confirmed that the bosses are directly related to dark souls. That they are remnants of an age of fire. Edit: also, the fire keeper says that we need to become the Night Lord. One of the endings in DS3 is the age of dark so keep that in mind

Controversial take - Elden Ring and the other From Soft Souls game are mid. The same dreary tone in every single game, a complete lack of character (much less character development) - and NO, A COOL DESIGN IS NOT A CHARACTER. Lack of story (putting lore into random shit is not a story, you like Vaati's videos, not FromSoft's "stories"). Making a very minor change to the game system and having people drool as if it's major innovation. MIDDLING difficulty that y'all pretend is incredibly hard so you can feel special. Sorry. I loved Demon's Souls because it held the promise of an actually tough game but I was quickly disappointed by that. And the more each new game just stayed the same, the more I realized how boring they were.
