Most likely... and this is just assumption of course, the man was not angry and was actually frustrated himself at not being able to communicate... he probably said something like, "No no no... I. want. takeout... uhh... put. it. in. bag... Bag!" Pekora doesn't understand him at all, and all his gesture language came across as very aggressive to Pekora. I'm not saying gaijin can't be a dick when traveling to other countries, but there's high chance here that it's just a case of cultural barrier and Pekora being extra introvert and timid.
@GenericPN1204 жыл бұрын
@@lolipedofin true true. Like how some people will speak loud and clear in a slower pace to try and get their point across to those who can't understand them. It can come off the wrong way to some cultures, especially to people like Pekora who aren't good with social interactions in this case. It's the best they can do to try and communicate and the frustration they feel not being able to get their message across is more out of embarrassment rather than impatience. Unless we were there in person though it'd be hard to tell if she's exaggerating or not, but I wouldn't put it past her for a foreign tourist to behave like that. Seen plenty of tourists back in my hometown behave the same way, and we spoke the same language, lol.

This happens alot with foreigners in japan. I was working a part time job when i was there doing dishes for a café, and most foreign people would yell if the staff misunderstood them just in the slightest, that lead to me having to translate for them when there whete foreigners. This problem occured mostly from native english speaking countrys. People from country's where they don't speak english would try english and if it didn't work they would imidietly pull out google translate or something similar.
@megugu21554 жыл бұрын
you just have to wonder how they managed to navigate through the airport, the city, and to the cafe when they cant even understand a little bit of that country's language. like did their translator friend lost them or something or they just wander around looking for recognizable English words on the streets?
@palsson20084 жыл бұрын
@@megugu2155 mostly throughout the bigger citys there are english signes and the placeses names written with the English alphabet. And on the airport , most people speak some English. It is when you come down to more "normal" jobs where the people don't speak it. Like super market's/7 eleven and so on. But I do understand what you mean, sometimes you just wonder what went through their minds... ateast try with Google translate or something! Don't get mad straight away!

In Japan costumer service is a little more relaxed than here in this side of the ocean. They usually dont yell too much or they just follow the protocol of attenttion. Even if the client breaks the protocole is their fault

俺も学生の時そう言う経験あるわ。まじで英語を話せば世界中どこに行っても(特に日本)通じると思わないで欲しい。せめてゆっくり話して。 I had that experience when I was a student. Seriously, don't think that if you speak English, you can be understood anywhere in the world (especially Japan). At least please speak slowly.
@ssjcrafter88423 жыл бұрын
I wish I could understand what you 2 said, but my knowledge is limited so I can only assume the 1st person said the same thing in Japanese then English, mostly since Yukkuri(something)shite which I know translates to "take it easy" so I assume it can also be used for speaking slowly/lightly/easily or something? I'd like to know what the Japanese means in both messages, if it's alright, sorry...

Oh man, this reminded me when me and my family went to Hong Kong for a 3 day vacation. We have 0 knowledge of the local language and we got lost. So my dad (a naive adventurous type, but he means well) asked a random local, who is clearly confused, for directions in English. Me, my sister and mom are infuriatedly whisper screaming behind/at my dad to "stop asking in English". I felt guilty cause we didn't even do any simple homework on basic chinese/mandarin. I felt like me and my family were a walking family of douchebags at that vacation. I know that English is "almost" a universal language, but why the freak would you assume everyone in the world could speak English. Have some common sense. Cute clip, keep at it XD.

In my opinion your dad didn't do anything wrong, since from what I understand he was simply asking for directions. Nothing douchy about that. If he was acting like "directions please. WDYM you don't know English? Speak it!" however then it's understandable though
@NotASummoner2 жыл бұрын
If it's in Hong Kong it's not that unlikely for them to understand English so your dad trying to ask in English isn't weird.

This reminds me of when my mom had just came to America about 2 decades ago. She worked as a home attendant and she had a coworker tell her to crack the window. Crack the window meaning, open the window slightly. Although my mom had learned English as a kid, she wasn't used to the phrases, idioms, metaphors, stuff like that. So she thought the lady was telling her to break the window, she got confused and refused. Btw, great animation :D!
